Ready for the rough stuff.

Presenting itself as the all-mountain Queen of the Yeti Cycles apparel line, the Norrie Shorts focus on durability over weight. As a result, the Norrie shorts are intended for the aggressive rider, not the weekend warrior.

For the construction, Yeti used a heavier weight stretch polyester than what's found in the Caddoa shorts. This material selection provides a tougher fabric that brushes off diggers, while still retaining the freedom of movement that's necessary to confidently maneuver the bike in technical situations. And to be certain that you're prepared for whatever the mountain has to offer, Yeti also treated the fabric with a water-repellent DWR finish. This finish will bead off light to moderate rain without sacrificing the polyester's natural breathability. So, regardless of if you're sweating or getting rained on, you're guaranteed to remain dry and comfortable.

Further separating itself from the Caddoa shorts, the Norrie also has a longer inseam -- 12 inches compared to the Caddoa's nine. This increased leg coverage adds a touch of extra security for the inevitable spills that result from all-mountain riding. To securely hold the short in place, Yeti incorporated a wide waistband with additional silicone grippers. With this feature, the pre-shaped leg panels are free to follow your movements in the saddle without falling victim to either sag or rise. And for further flexibility, the shorts also feature a stretch yolk at the seat panel, ensuring that you're covered in multiple riding positions. For pedaling comfort, Yeti employs internal glide patches and a seamless crotch to prevent any irritation.

To store all of your ride essentials, the Norrie has two hook-and-loop hand pockets and a zippered stash pocket. And like all Yeti shorts, the Norrie is compatible with Yeti's Ruby liner, which features an Italian made chamois.

The Yeti Cycles Norrie Women's Shorts are available in four sizes from Small to Large and in the colors Black or Turquoise. Please note that Yeti bases its sizing off of waist size. So, a X-Small accommodates a waist size of 0-2, Small is a 4-6, Medium is an 8-10, and a Large is a 12-14.

  • Protective, 12-inch inseam
  • Internal glide patches and seamless crotch
  • Two hand pockets, one zippered stash pocket
  • Compatible with Yeti’s Ruby liner

My go-to shorts for riding

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

I could see how the sizing of these shorts could be a bit odd to some. The pants are slightly tighter than I expected. They do, however have a perfect amount of stretch to them. I wear shorts underneath while I ride, so I would say they fit me perfectly. I have a fairly slender/athletic body type. I love them.

I purchased these in teal and love the color. I get a lot of compliments on them. I would buy them in every color if I could. :)

No Bueno

I wouldn't recommend this shorts to anyone. At first I liked them, they fit good but writhing a few rides I could see they were wearing out fast. Crazy fast. I've had them for no more than 4 months and they have holes in them. I was expecting much more considering how much they are worth!

    My Go-To bike shorts

    • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

Got this for my wife, in her words:
These are the only bike shorts I wear. They are comfortable, durable, and look great. They have a flattering feminine fit which, let's be honest, is a BIG deal as far as women's bike clothing goes. They have stood up to a lot of rides and just as many washing's and still come out looking like new. I bought the pink and it's just the amount of flare I was going for. They're a great length, not too long not too short, hitting just above my kneecap, with pockets in all the right places. Due to the feminine fit, they are a bit narrow in the thigh so I can see them being too snug for more muscular body types but for me, these are just right! You know the order of operations, look good, feel good, ride good!! Happy riding!

    In-Between Sizes

    • Familiarity:I returned this product before using it
    • Fit:Runs small

:( I know there was lots of confusion below in the reviews for these shorts about sizing. There was some mismarked shorts in last year's run and people were all atizzy.

I ordered BOTH the size small and the size medium to determine what would work best for me. The shorts themselves are awesome. Super nice feeling, durable material, great shape to them. I was most wild about the length, not too long but not too short. Zippers seemed to be made of great quality, as did the tabs used to adjust the waistline.

I was fully in-between sizes though - BUMMER, so I returned both.

    I am 5'3" and 125 lbs.

The size small looked nice, fit in the waistband and rear, looked great. BUT - I couldn't bend or squat without some discomfort, they felt a bit too tight. I typically take a size small in most brands.

The size medium was wayyy too large. It was poochy in the rear area and the waistline was huge. I could run the waistband cinches all the way down to achieve the proper fit, but it didn't look awesome. Moving around and bending they felt a LOT better than the small. But again, since the waistline and butt didn't really fit, I decided not to keep them. I wish I could have kept them.

    Good luck!

Great shorts, have last years sizing

I bought the black and turqoise in these from last year. I am 5 foot 6 135 and usually between a small and medium due to larger thighs and bum. Found the sizing to be very odd in these when I bought a medium and am now relieved to hear of the sizing issue! I still wear them they stretched a bit with wear but are still tight in rear and legs while waist is fine (however being Latina I am quite accustomed to this type of issue haha) They are currently more of my

    Cool-Aside from the sizing

    • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I got these shorts today, and ordered a large based on the reviews saying they run small. For reference I'm 5'2, 140 (got a booty and hockey/biking thighs) but wldnt say I'm "overweight". Normally wear a 10, which would have put me in a medium, which i cant imagine, cuz the large is borderline too small. The legs and waist are a little tighter than i would like. I'm on the fence about these shorts, they were pretty pricey for no chammy. Ordered a few other pairs to compare them to-hoping the Sombrio's work out. Other than the sizing, the fabric feels high quality, the length is great, and the fabric feels stretchy. I'll keep y'all posted on my findings. Oh, the color is pretty rad too. I agree, Yeti, please make available in an XL or make your sizing match the size guide.

    Responded on

UPDATE: I spoke with someone involved with Yeti and they told me that last years sizing was all mis-labeled. In other words, everything that was labeled a L was really a M. Everything that was labeled a M was really and S, and so forth.

Sounds like they got that kink worked out this year and that is why the sizing is corrected now...This explains why older reviews would have suggested to size up, and more recentl reviews say true-to-size.

    Responded on

Yeah, but I ordered a large this year and they still fit like a medium. Thoughts? Is there a way to see if the pair I was shipped was mislabeled or not based on batch #?

    Yeti Norrie

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times
    • Fit:True to size

After reading a number of reviews stating these ran small, I went with a medium and found that they fit HUGE in the waist. With the side waist tabs cinched down, they are wearable though. I own the turquoise and after riding in the mud and than washing them right after, I found that the material was stained darker where the muddy spots were; I can't seem to get the stains out with anything either. My biggest gripe with these though is that they just do not breathe well; very uncomfortable, sweaty, and hot even on short rides. I wanted to like these much more than I do :( They could be a great short and I love the bright vibrant colors, but they came up short unfortunately.

    pretty neat

These shorts are definitely my go-to's, but agree with others that the fit is a little weird. I bought these in large, which is more or less my normal size, and they're a little roomy in the waist (easily solved by the waist tabs) and snug in the legs, but not uncomfortable. My biggest gripe with them is probably a personal problem - I wish the inseam was longer! I'm tall and they hit pretty far above my knees. Definitely have an intense shorts-kneepad gap going on when I ride with kneepads. Length issues aside, these are durable shorts that have been awesome for pretty much all of my riding.

    pretty neat

    Love them!

I bought these bike shorts for my girlfriend in a medium. She is 5'6'' 130. She loves the light weight high quality material. They may be a little big in the waist if anything. She was so happy with them, I'll probably end up ordering her another pair!

      Weird sizing

      • Familiarity:I've used it several times
      • Fit:Runs small

I bought these last year in a small, they fit fine in the waist but too tight through the legs. This year I thought I'd try a medium which was way too big in the waist. I'm returning the second pair because they just don't seem like they will be comfortable, even with the waist adjusted all the way to the smallest it will go. I crashed last year wearing them, though, and they are super tough.

Sizing a little off, but awesome shorts!

      • Gender:Female
      • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit:Runs small

I agree that the sizing is off with these shorts--they are big in the waist and smaller than I would like in the thighs. I generally wear a medium, but with these I ordered a large and I'm happy with them. I just cinched up the waist tabs and they stay up fine. With a downhill short I want plenty of room to move anyway, so the bigger waist isn't a big deal to me. They still look feminine and the strange waist is hidden under my jersey. What I love about the shorts is the simple design and great fabric. It's slightly stretchy and pretty light/breathable, but durable too. I've had a few crashes that I got up looking for tears in my shorts, but it didn't even phase them! I did get a rip in the butt when I buzzed the tire landing waaay to far back coming off a jump (oops), but I sewed them and haven't had any problems since. I also love the length--they're long enough to overlap my knee pads to avoid the dorky gap, but not long enough to look like I'm wearing mens' shorts! I'm buying another pair :)

      they do NOT run small.

I just got these shorts in the mail and had read all the reviews saying they ran small. I usually wear a size small and was going to order a small but instead ordered a medium, I am sending them back for a small...Other than the size they look awesome!

Kind of cool, but missed the mark

      • Gender:Female
      • Familiarity:I've used it several times
      • Fit:Runs small

So first with the good: They are simple in design, seem to be really well made, come in two colors (both of which I really like and wear), and I like the idea of them being women's specific. As I am sure most other women's mountain bikers can relate to, it can be really difficult to find women's mountain biking gear. Yay Yeti, thank you for having some cute women's pieces!

Now for the warning: as most other reviewers have already pointed out, the fit is off in the legs. I am nearly always a size small across the board in both tops and bottoms, but I was forced to size up to a medium in the Norrie short because they were so tight around my thighs (and I don't nearly have the muscling of some of my other cycling friends). I think it is fair to say that I still even think the mediums are a little tighter than I would prefer, but the shorts which are too loose around the waist and gap a little in the back would be really difficult to size up to a large in.

I would still recommend these shorts, but would caution the other lady riders to size up.

      Almost perfect! Bad sizing

The material, quality, and features of these shorts are super awesome. And I love the long length. But the sizing is crazy town! I'm usually a size 4 in pants/shorts, and I ordered the size S. The waist/butt was perfect- definitely could not size up or it'd be too big. The legs were almost skin tight, and I'm an average sized female road cyclist (skinny gal with bike quads). So sad- I was really excited about these shorts. Please fix the sizing, Yeti!

Following the size chart, I'm a solid "medium," but I had the exact same issue with these as I do when I buy jeans... the waist gaps severely at the back (which could be tolerable, given the adjustment straps on the side), while the thighs are tight and binding through the middle 3-4 inches of leg. For reference, I'm 5'6", 142 pounds (muscley), the largest part of my upper leg measures 22", hips are 38", and smallest part of my waist is 28.5"

The quality and whatnot seems fine, but it's frustrating to have that sort of fit from a cycling clothing manufacturer.

Can I have one more pair please?

          • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
          • Fit:Runs small

I bought one pair, tried them on and bought two more. I haven't ridden in a pair of shorts that wasn't the Yeti Cycles Norrie all summer and I don't intend to change that any time soon. The fit is spot on; they have ample room in the booty/quads for ladies who actually have some muscle, are comfortable around the waist with an easy tab adjustment and they are flattering. Bravo Yeti!

          double nailed it!

          • Familiarity:I've used it several times
          • Fit:True to size

Love the Yeti turquoise pants, fit great, slim in the hips but have nice stretch. They are just the short with no padded short included. I am also 5'9", 130 but the med. was the better fit, still snug with padded bike shorts underneath.

          Love em.

          • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
          • Fit:Runs small

Great quality. Solid seams. Fairly thick but stretchy fabric. I found the fit to be a bit small. Normally I fit a 4/6 (never an 8/10) but the S was skin tight on me so I returned them for M. I'm more of a pear shape... 28" at smallest part of waist and 39" around widest part of booty... 5'7" 135lb. The M (8-10) fits perfectly everywhere except I have to cinch the sides quite a bit to eliminate gapping at the waist but that's what the straps are there for. ;) Since I have so much trouble finding mtb shorts that fit properly and look nice, I got both the black and the turquoise. Love em both.

          Nailed it!

Thank you Yeti for making a women's MTB short that fits and functions properly!

The thigh opening is narrow enough and the fit is tight enough to not get caught up on the seat when getting on and off the bike (maddening) but they don't constrict movement either. The length is flattering, and long enough to cover the awkward knee pad gap and the material is perfect thickness + I love the Yeti turquoise!

For reference I'm 5'9", 135 and the S fit perfect. I am elated to be free of my baggy, dumpy butt NF shorts!
