A Perfect Fit!
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
This was our first trunk/lift gate bike rack purchase and are very happy with the choice. We purchased this rack to mount on both a sedan (Ford Fusion) and a compact SUV (Hyundai Tuscon). It fits very well on the sedan and pretty good on the SUV also. (Use the provided adapters to install on the SUV to protect the rear lift gate glass.)
Assembly/mounting it relatively simple, and if you follow the instructions included with the kit, it's a cinch (pun intended) to repeat on the same or a similar vehicle.
We've carried two bikes on the rack for a 500 mile trip and didn't notice any issues with loose ties, or the bikes fumbling around. No scratches on the bikes either.
We've already recommended this rack to a few friends and will continue to do so.

Pros: It holds your bike securely and it's easy to put on.
Cons: The rubber straps that hold the bike on break after a year or so of use. the way it holds the seat tube rubs the paint off the bike. No adjustability so my large bike with a curved top tube can't fit next to my wife's small bike with a straight top tube.
The rack works, but i'm not impressed and not happy about rubbing paint off my bike even though it's a small area.
Does this come with a lock?
Does this come with a lock?
Hey Angelia Gregory,
Thanks for the question. I checked on the Yakima Quick Back 3 Bike Rack and I found that it does not come with a lock. The best type to use for this particular rack would be the Yakima 9 Ft SKS Cable.
it does come with a security cable to lock the rack to your car, but it's not the burliest and you'd need a separateock to lock your bike to the rack.

I'm interested in this bike rack but am concerned about it fitting mountain bikes. Does anyone have experience with this rack either fitting or not fitting mountain bikes?
yes. however, i have a large frame with a curved top tube and my wife has a small frame with a straight top tube and they do not fit next to eachother. we have to leave a space between and can only carry two bikes at a time then.

We have a new 2011 Honda CR-V. The fit guide says it will work, but wondering if anyone has one and how well they like it for the CR-V.
Did it fit your CR-V? I'm thinking about buying it but I previously got anoter rack that did not fit so I'm a little skeptical... the problem seem to be the lower straps because of the CR-V plastic trunk bottom.

Anybody know if this rack will fit a 2010 VW Tiguan?
Currently, according to the Yakima fit guys, the QuickBack 2/3 won't fit the VW Tiguan because the vehicle is unable to support the weight at the point where the carrier must be placed.
The best option currently for this car (if it has factory raised side rails) are the Yakima RailGrabs. This will allow you to carry most things, with the right accessories (these would include bike carriers, ski carriers, boxes, etc.) on your car.
This rack has preformed exceptionally well. It is secure, quick to install, and keeps the bikes far away from damaging your car. It is the most versatile rack on the market- you can put it on your hatchback, sedan, or SUV. This is the best rack I have ever used. (Abnormal frames do require adapters)

maybe this one will work with a small framed bike?
The quick back has the narrowest bars of the Yakima Racks and it is very versatile for fitting smaller frames. The other option is to purchase a Yakima Tube Top and it will work with any of the Yakima trunk racks for any hard to fit frame.
My quickback bike rack
Pulled the rack out after Christmas and put it right on my wifes Ford Escape. The instructions were easy, the installation was easier and it worked very well. We loaded two bikes on and traveled 600 miles round trip with no problems. The rack is very adjustable, and sturdy, the seat post arm kept bikes from "claninging" into each other. This rack was well worth the price.

Does this rack fit on a mini-van? (yeah I know it is dorky but even a wilderness dude settles down sometimes :-)
The way I look at a minivan, when compared to a car, is it has a ton more room to haul gear...and kids. So in that vein, no, it's not that dorky...
In regards to the whether or not the Quickback will fit a minivan, the answer is yes! It should fit nicely. In fact it's one of the easiest and quickest fitting strap-style bike carriers you can buy. It also comes with a security cable (has woven steel cables inside the nylon strap) to give it some security. The anti-sway holders are also a nice feature.
