Description

Take your bike for a ride with the Yakima HighRoller Mount.

The Yakima HighRoller Upright Bike Mount lets you load your bike onto your roof rack without needing to remove its front wheel. As one of Yakima's top-shelf models, the HighRoller's automotive finish looks sleek on your vehicle, and it won't harm your favorite bike's paint job because this mount holds onto your bike's wheel, not its frame. This mount carries any bike with wheel sizes 20 to 29 inches and with nearly any tire size, from skinny roadies to three-inch fatties. Even bikes with disc brakes and unique suspension designs can ride on the HighRoller. A sliding wheel tray makes positioning your bike's rear wheel a breeze. This bike mount comes with an integrated SKS cable lock—you need lock cores (sold separately) for it to work.

Will I need 1 or 2 pairs of lock cores and housings ?

Responded on

You need two cores for one rack. One core goes on front to lock the whole rack to the car and the second core goes into the wire that secures bike to the rack.

What's the difference between this version of the high roller and the one that is $150 on this website?

My top choice

When I purchased bike racks for my Subaru I got two different types. One a bit cheaper and then this one. And you get what you paid for. The high roller is a great rack! I definitely recommend this one and it works with DH bikes too!

Does the sale price for the HighRoller include the MightyMount to mount the rack to a 2004 Subaru Outback factory cross bar?

Responded on

Scott, this bike rack mounted straight to my stock subaru rack (2002) and also fits my friends stock subaru rack (2005). Check out this video, super useful in seeing this thing in action before you buy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cu8rHM90Rdw

Whoops! Edit: I was answering for the Front Loader by Yakima

This is the best possible rack you can get for a roof rack.
My only complaint is it costs alot (well worht the money) but im just scared it is easily stolen.

Best bike mount I could find for a 29er

I did a lot of research on this purchase of a bike mount to hold my new baby a Gary Fisher Superfly 29er. This was the best mount I could find for a 29er. It hold it fairly securely, but there is still some wobble.. I have driven on the freeway with no issues.

Holds the bikes as well as I could hope for. Needed an accessory lock, which is sold separately, to lock highroller to crossbars when bike is on rack. Slight wobble at speed, nothing to be concerned with.

Am I missing something regarding the lock system? I see one cable, with one spot for one lock core. This cable appears to be designed to lock the bike to the Highroller. When a bike is mounted, how does the Highroller lock to the crossbars?

Responded on

The wing nuts which attach the rack to the crossbars can be replaced with Yakima Accessory Lock Housings that allow you to lock the rack in place. Awesome rack for both my DH bike and road bike...

Easy to Use

I chose these because they looked pretty easy to use and after a few uses they are. Installing it on our Aspen took about an hour for 2 mounts. It holds my road bike securely. Drove 300 miles with it on and no problems. The bike does shake a little (going about 85 mph) but I have yet to find a mount where the bike doesn't shake at all. Overall, looks great on my car and I'm very happy with my purchase!

My Favorite

I've used several styles of Yakima roof racks and this is the best. It'll transport any bike, even your 29ers. Super solid and reliable, plus a little added security with a built in lock. The price difference is worth it compared to less expensive racks. This is also the easiest model to load bikes onto.

Great MTB roof rack

One of the easiest racks to use on the market right now. Great for the mountain bike. Espeacialy if you have a through axel front fork which will not fit on most roof racks. Easy turn dial to lock in place, as well as an easy push release button.

Good Truck Bike Rack

Pretty secure rack as long as I don't get too crazy (doesn't happen often). Mounted them on my Toyota Tacoma with the L2S Sport Rack Brackets & some 58" Yakima crossbars.

Yakima HighRoller Upright Bike Mount

I like this rooftop mount. It is fairly easy to load, you can easily lock the frame of your bike to the rack, and I feel it is safe and secure. I would want the design improved before I purchased another however or I would look at the Thule Sidearm. First, the bikes sway quite a bit when using this rack. Although I have gotten over my nervousness in this regard while cruising on the highway, it is still a bit unsettling to see two bikes (I have two of these mounted on my Subaru's factory racks) worth more than my car swaying quite dramatically in the wind. Granted there have never been any issues with the bikes coming off or even getting loose, I would still prefer a more rigid upright setup. I have been able to overcome this design flaw by locking two bikes together (frame to frame) which cuts down on bike movement by about 90%. My next suggestion to Yakima to improve this rack is to make a locking system from the bike rooftop rack to the car's factory/Thule/Yakima/etc. rack. Basically you can lock the bike to the HighRoller (which I like), but you cannot lock the HighRoller to the car's rack (which I don't like).

I have used these racks quite a bit and traveled as long as 7 hours each way on an 80 MPH highway with bikes on top and never had any real problems to speak of. Overall, I would give this rack 4 out of 5 stars, but it could definitely use a bit improvement.

Nice Yakima Rakima

This is my first upright bike rack, but this one is quite nice. Easy to install and load bike. Looks pretty sexy on your ride too. Your bike will rock or shake back and forth a bit on turns and big bumps, but it is not going anywhere.

nice rack baby

These are much better racks than the king cobras. They are secure, pretty straight forward to use and look good. These are less flexy than the Cobras and a little more durable too. The cable lock system is nice. The knob system for tightening it up is a little finicky and a bit annoying.

The tray are nice and wide but almost a little too bulky. I would also expect them to be much stiffer for how big they are.

Perfect Rack

Bought this because I didn't have a rack that would work for my Enduro. The rack holds it secure, its super easy to use, and I have zero complaints. If you need a rack but don't want it to hold the frame, this is the rack for you.
