Nicely proportionate blocks and spacing allow the 2.3in-wide WTB Vigilante TCS 27.5in Tire to excel in loose and wet all-mountain conditions. As the most aggressive 27.5-inch offering from WTB, the Vigilante features square-edged lugs with siping in order to boost traction.

This helps them claw over broken rocks and wet roots alike, as does WTB's Dual DNA rubber compound and a 60 TPI casing. A 60a durometer center is plenty tacky for damp mountain soil, but not so soft that a day shuttling in desert heat is going to rip the tread up. At the sides, 50a durometer rubber comes into play.

The softer, slower-rebounding, rubber works with shifted side knobs that are siped in order to improve control and grip at the limit. For security, WTB employs its TCS (Tubeless Compatible System) to create a lightweight, sealant-based tubeless casing with a positive bead and rim hook joint that prevents burping and air loss.

The WTB Vigilante TCS 27.5in Tire is UST compatible, with the use of sealant, and it's available in a 2.3-inch width. Please note that this tire does not include either tire sealant or rim tape.

great tire for NorCal

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

My new favorite front tire! Has great volume and plenty of grip for the trails around NorCal and Tahoe. Running the 27.5 on my hardtail and it definitely improved handling!

Tubeless on a budget

I picked these up on a closeout deal and have mixed feelings about them. I like the tread pattern and how they perform. I just haven't been that impressed with the durability. The sidewall is thin and folds over easily causing the dreaded burp. I've also ripped a tire open in between the knobbies on nothing that would be considered rough terrain. While I like how the tire grips and tracks I can't put a lot of faith in the durability and will look elsewhere in the future.

Great value, great tires.

I have used these tires all summer over various different types of surfaces. They are great. I purchased this new set to convert to tubeless and they worked great with The TCS rims from wtb.
