Item # VPM000J

Two in one

You'd probably run more errands on your bike if you didn't have to deal with the hassle of bike shoes and slippery cleats, right? VP Components thinks so too, and took the opportunity to create the VP-R62, a single-sided SPD-compatible pedal with a platform pedal on the other side.

Constructed from an aluminum body, the R-62s feature an 89 x 99mm platform. On one side, a platform allows the use of street shoes with four traction pins holding you securely in place. The opposite side of the pedal houses an SPD-compatible binding with adjustable tension release. Go for a long ride in your cleats, or hop on for the evening pub crawl in your street shoes. The pedal body is mounted to a CNC-machined cromoly axle with LSL and sealed cartridge bearings for extra durability. The pedals are installed using a 9/16-inch pedal wrench, and include cleats and hardware.

Great pedals. They do the job.

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

My wife uses these pedals on her road bike. She's not super confident with clipless pedals yet, so having the dual option is an important feature. These pedals do not disappoint, and they weigh less than the dual platform options from Shimano. The SPD clips are great because my wife can also take her cycling shoes with her to the gym and clip into the spin bikes there.
