Train hard, win races.

Changing tires due to varying conditions can be a pain, and quite frankly, a waste of time. Vittoria constructed its Zaffiro Pro II Clincher in such a manner that it takes on anything from rough roads to wet slick corners with zest and control.

Constructed with Vittoria’s durable Aramid Endura compound, the Zaffiro Pro II is built to roll fast, far, and without incident. The nylon Puncture Resistant Belt (PRB) found in Vittoria’s higher-tier rubber, like the Open Corsa and the Rubino, is also used here. The Zaffiro Pro II accomplishes all this without adding a large amount of rotating weight. Its newly developed tread, with deeper grooves in the middle and shallower shoulders, means you'll get excellent cornering in both wet and dry conditions. Since it's a 60 TPI tire, the overall cost is reasonably low for the high-quality performance.

The Vittoria Zaffiro Pro II Tire - Clincher is available in 700c x 23mm and in the color Yellow/black.

Lasting trainer tires

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I'd give these tires a 3 star but because they actually grip well in wet conditions, I gave them a 4. The Vittoria Zaffiro Pro III make great training tires. The treads are a couple millimeters thicker down the center and the texture on the rounded areas make for good grip cornering even in wet conditions. I slipped out the front wheel once in really dusty conditions but I was going pretty fast into the turn.

I've only had one puncture in the front due to a long wire from car tire tread poking through but other than that they have been puncture resistant for what's been about 1000 miles on the tires. The rear is starting to wear down since I've been mashing it up climbs lately and the front tire is rounding but otherwise lasting longer than softer, higher TPI, and more costly tires.

Overall they are good trainers for a fair price. The different colors is great. They ride a little stiffer than the supple, racing tires with high TPI count but perfect for commuting, everyday riding, and training.

Cheap and simple

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I needed a cheap tire after one of mine blew out. I got two of these since the price was good. It does exactly what it claims to do. Can't beat that for the price.

The tire does need a bit of finesse and finger strength to put on the wheel. Practice a few times at home before you head out.

No punctures yet- rolling well. I don't mind the weight since I'm using this as a training wheel now.
