Vittoria knows the importance of being able to rely on your winter training tires, day in and day out, without worrying about them being able to hold up to the rigors of the road. For that reason, its engineers designed the new Pro Tech Tire using a blend of proven tread and sidewall compounds, which gives you hard-wearing tires that were built for the long haul.

The Zaffiro Pro Tech is a reliable tire constructed out of Vittoria's Aramid Endura wet-grip compound. It's built to roll fast, far, and without incident. The nylon Puncture Resistant Belt (PRB) found in Vittoria’s higher-tier rubber, like the Open Corsa and the Rubino, is also used here. The Zaffiro Pro accomplishes all of this without adding an exceptional amount of rotating weight. In addition to the grippy tread compound, Vittoria added its denseweave sidewall protection. If you're familiar with the Rubino line of tires, you'll know this composition as the ultimate in sidewall reinforcement, constructed from a dense but flexible polymer weave.

The Zaffiro Pro Tech incorporates Vittoria's Aqua-Flow tread, with deeper grooves in the middle and shallower shoulders, meaning you get excellent cornering in both wet and dry conditions. And since it's a 60 TPI tire, the overall price is reasonably low for the high quality you receive.

The Vittoria Zaffiro Pro Tech Tire - Clincher is available in Black tread with Black sidewalls only, and in a 23mm width.

Great basic tire

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I threw these on my commuter. So far they have worked very well. I have had less flats using these than the last pair of tires I had on the bike. The tires seems to have a fairly stiff sidewall which helps them resist pinch flats from pot holes. These roll well and don't seem to have much roll resistance.

If you are looking for a performance road tire I suggest you look elsewhere. If you just need a solid tire that will get you from point a to b this one works great for that. So far I have noticed very little wear and they seem to be holding up well.

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Confirmed scale weight of 266grams. They look pretty hefty though, so hopefully this will be reflected in their durability.
