If you're like us, then you don't swap tires out for every ride — even if you're going from a final training ride to a race or event. We want speed, but we're also greedy enough to expect a tire to handle inclement conditions and unforgiving surfaces without sliding out or flatting. Fortunately, Vittoria is an accommodating manufacturer, and the Rubino Pro Tech 3's reinforced sidewalls, PRB 2.0 anti-puncture breaker, and supple, 150 TPI casing make it corner and react like a race tire without deflating at the mere mention of road debris.

Do these only fit hooked rims and if so, which tires fit non-hooked rims and are just bead?

Miles and Better Ride

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Gone through several of these tires over the years. They ride pretty well for a tire that you just want to get mileage out of. Wet weather grip isn't bad either.

Nice ride for a durable tire

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I agree with the sentiment in the other review - like a gatorskin but the ride's much better. These (for obvious reasons) feel a little heavier and stiffer than the Corsa CX tires, but only a little, and they seem to be a MUCH better training tire than the Corsa, especially for winter when you'll be needing more durability and puncture resistance. I've only put a couple of hundred miles on this pair, but my impression is that the cost-benefit ratio seems pretty great.

Like a Gatorskin, but rides better

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've gotten ridiculous amounts of mileage on Vittoria's Rubino Pros, but wanted something a little more puncture resistant. I've ridden the Specialized Armadillo and the Conti Gatorskin in the past but gave those up as they rode very harsh and stiff. These ended up really surprising me in their ride quality for a puncture resistant tire. Vittoria's suppleness, combined with Rubino longevity and the additional puncture resistance really make this a great training tire.
