These tires stick to the road, and handle the toughest roads i ride on. I have not had a flat yet, and are leaps and bounds better than the stock tires my bike came with. I am still wondering when i will get a flat!

Good High-Mileage Tire

I've used three sets of these tires and both times got almost 3,500 miles from the set (rotating them once). My last set was covered in nicks when I retired them. They are very easy to mount and have slightly above average road feel and performance considering their design. I prefer Rubino 3s in 25mm to Gatorskins.

Oh yeah, as of the date of my comment, the tech specs are totally messed up. Just sayin'. Says they are wire bead and weight 144 grams!!! Here's my specs: my last set averaged about 230-235 grams and were accurate in terms of width.

One of the best training tires

Vittoria SpA --based in Northern Italy like many of the Big names of Italian cycling: Bianchi, Pinarello, Colnago, Campagnolo, Cinelli, 3T, Deda-- has been manufacturing pro-level bicycle tires for 60 years. It shows. Their range and R&D is pretty amazing.

The Vittoria Rubino Pro 3 is by far my favorite overall riding and training tire. Fast, good wear (much better than dedicated racing tires), very good puncture protection (ditto), and great handling. Most of all with these Rubino Pro's is their exceptional touch and dynamic feel.

True, the Rubino Pro 3 is not a racing tire. That is what the awesome (but faster wearing and less puncture resistant) Vittoria "Corsa" line of tubulars and clinchers are for.

I typically use race tires in 23 mm size for racing or TT/timed runs on clean, dry, smooth roads. Otherwise, I use Rubino Pro 3's in the 25mm size (235g) for training and general riding. And, honestly, I use Rubino Pro 3's in the 28mm size (245g) for training in the Winter months on the wet and rough (chip & seal) roads in my area. 28mm tires provide much better traction, braking, and handling in these conditions; yet are still light and very fast. Rubino Pros are great tires!

Long Service Life, OK Handling

If you're on a tight budget but still want some decent handling, the Rubinos are a solid choice. They corner well, though not as well as the Diamantes and Corsas, but they three times as long as Corsas and half again as long as Diamantes. The tread pattern deals with wet conditions reasonably well, too. If you want a training tire and don't care about handling, the Rubino is a solid option. If you want something you can corner on a bit better, but still lasts and won't break the bank, check out the Diamantes.

i've used the a handful of times and so far i love these tires! they grip the roads really well. i run them about 100 psi and i have not had a flat yet.. i am a fan of these tires, work and feel great!

Not as good as I hoped

I've read a lot of good reviews about this tire but, after about 300 miles and on fairly decent roads, I got this on mine. It grips very well and I felt really confident going on a couple of really curvy descents. I rode it with 120 PSI and got no flats. I'll give it another try, hoping that maybe I got the one defective unit out of the whole batch.

just my opinion The wear on the tire kooks as if you locked up really hard the scalloping just below the massive hole is indicative of hard breaking skid to the stop. Again my opinion I was not there.

I have had 4 sets of these tires. I love the versatility. rough road wet fast curvy I feel secure. Once I was on a wet muddy road came up as a cloud burst. the road prior that was dry my tires were at 120psi If I just tapped the brakes the tires locked up and just slid no grip because of the situation. fortunately for me the was a dirt wall I was able to slightly steer too, as soon as i hit the gravel just off the road It locked up at I skid hit the wall semi hard. The tires were no worse for wear My right wrist not so. I tapped a little air out and continued on.

I told the story to say these tires are awesome. the swoosh swoosh swoosh when you put down the hammer just sounds awesome. purchase these tires you will not be disappointed.

I'd agree with the other commenter that this kind of wear on a tire appears to be the result of locking up the wheel, skidding and creating a flat spot where unnatural wear can develop. I don't claim to know your experience but in my experience when you get a flat spot and let it go this can happen. I've created flat spots (hard not to when a car crosses the yellow line coming at you) but have always swapped the tire out afterwards.

Got this cut in my old Vittoria Rubino Pro 3 Clinchers about 500 miles ago, still no flat! Have over 2000 miles and they are good for another 1000 I would guess. Bought a new set because I was worried about this cut, but I'm not going to replace them yet.

So true. I had a very similar dimple-type cut in my Rubino Pro 3 rear tire and still got 3,000 miles out of it, at least half of that after the damage. Reassuring.

sturdy

i like that they have several colors to choose from so that you can deck out your bike, i've gotten many compliments.

aside from their appearance, these are also thick and feel very durable. they have great traction so that i feel safer cornering, not having to worry about them skidding out. i haven't gotten a flat with these since the 3 months i've had them.

Great tires

Bought some of these for my wife to replace her old cheapies. We were looking for a pair of durable tires that didn't create a lot of resistance and these have worked out exceptionally. She loves the way they ride and they grip the road well without adding a lot of extra weight to the bike. I would recommend these to the casual biker and work commuter.

Italian for victory

Robust training tires with a ride quality that approaches a lot of racing tires. I have been running these since December on winter roads with no problems or flats (flats happen sometimes but seem to be less of an issue on fresh, high-quality rubber) I'll be purchasing these again.

Rock Solid!

I purchased these for my commuter that typically gets ridden through all sorts of terrible roads with tons of debris and these are AMAZING! After pumping them up to 115 PSI they are so solid that rocks and other debris just bounces off the tire and the Kevlar definitely makes this one of the most rugged smooth road tires! If you are looking for something that will grip, inflate to a higher PSI for less rolling resistance, and need something rugged that will hold up over time look no further. This tire is something I plan on running on all my bikes from now on!

Does this tire come in a 700x25? I only see 23 & 28.
If a 700x25 fits ok on my Mavic Road rims will the 28 be ok or is that too close to call witrhout mounting one first?

It does come in a 700x25 but RC does not sell it. Check out Amazon and they should have one.

Great trainer

I got a set of these recently and threw them on for some training. I was skeptical because I normally ride a very tough tire like a gatorskin or armadillo. I rode 10 hours in Seattle in 3 days on dirty, wet back roads. So much junk was sticking to the tires from the rain, but I didn't get any flats. These feel a lot better cornering than the hard rubber wire beads I am used to, and are lighter. My new favorite trainer!

Great Tires

I bought a new set of wheels and decided not to go with the Rubinos again, and try the Mich Krylions. Bad mistake, third ride out with the new wheels and tires I flatted with a huge cut in the rear Krylion. Looked at it as bad luck and not paying enough attention on my part. However 2 weeks later the rear had a slow leak, that was enough. Not to mention the main reason I switched back to the Rubinos was the Kryloins felt sluggish and not nearly as fast. I had a full year with the Rubinos before and never flatted once. Glad to have the Rubinos back!

Vittoria Rubino Pro 3 Tire - Clincher

Awesome training tire that will last ages, and very good puncture resistance. They are not as fast for racing (best to go with the Vittoria Open Corsa range there), but as good tire as you can get for training. They would get 5 stars if they were a bit faster and grippier, but for a training tire, they're perfect.
Fantastic range of colour options too.

In reference to the detail picture of the tire tread, which way should the tire be mounted for the tread to be in the proper rolling direction? Most tires I have had show an installation arrow on the sidewall, but my set of these do not.

A good rule of thumb for tires is have the arrow of the tread pointing forward. So when you mount it have the tread point forward on the bike.

great all-round, training tire

The Rubino is the perfect balance between being too bulky and heavy to race, but too thin and light to offer any type of puncture-resistance or longevity. My wife trains on a set of these and I have a set on a pair of wheels I use for training. Don't plan on rallying through a thorn patch puncture-free, but then again if that's what you are looking for buy a set of Conti Gatorskins. On the other hand, daily training rides are not going to leave you on the side of the road with punctures, and you can still corner without feeling like you are riding super-wide slicks on a mountain bike. These tires are worth the price and a good daily tire and better than any set of Conti's, Hutchinson's or Michelin's.

Great so far.

I've used Michelin Pro Race and Conti GP4000s. I liked the feel of the Conti's the best, but these are my second favorite for feel and probably favorite overall of the three. I've only had them 400 miles, but they're great so far. No flats yet and seem to be wearing very well. They feel is not quite a supple or grippy as Conti, but I like the feel of these better than the Michelin's.
