How do you roll?

The Vittoria Rubino Pro III continues the success of the versatile Rubino series. Billed as a reliable, high-mileage solution to extended training, gran fondos, or even coast-to-coast, ultra-endurance rides. The Rubino Pro features a technical tread pattern for stability across a wide variety of road conditions (including those surprise gravel detours that Google Maps failed to point out.) Vittoria’s nylon anti-puncture belt adds peace of mind. More importantly, the ride quality afforded by the 150 TPI nylon casing will smooth out decaying tarmac and the occasional rumble strip. Choose from 700C x 23mm or 25mm widths.

  • Mithril cut-resistant polymer weave minimizes chances of damage to sidewalls
  • Updated tread pattern increases contact surface area for better grip
  • 150 TPI for long-lasting tread life
  • Recommended pressure from 100-145 psi

Great tire

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I purchased a set of these to replace stock Bontrager R3s and the different is night and day. After a week of riding on the R3s there were several cuts from general road riding. I replaced them with a set of green Rubinos and have put 3000 miles on them. They handle well in all road conditions from smooth pavement to chip sealed roads. I unfortunately had to replace one due to running over a piece of glass that would've taken out a car tire but have no complaints with these tires!

What is the difference from a 700c and 700 tire?

Where the Rubber Meets the Road

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Overall this tire meets my expectations in three areas: price, comfort, and performance. Great handling in the mountains along with good rolling resistance makes this a great tire at this price point. Wear and tear is right up there with the best of the best as far as durability and flat protection are concerned, not to mention that it comes in several colors to spice up your bike...try a pair, you'll be glad you did and let me know how they feel

Love these tires.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have 1400 miles on these so far, average 200 miles per week mostly on asphalt roads and bikeways. The mix of performance, style and durability is very good for my riding habits. So far I find the optimal pressure for me is 130 psi. and I am 200 lbs. The color options on the folding tire allow me to use a tire that looks great on my bike and carry a spare on long trips just in case.

Love these tires.

Love 'em!!!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I rode Conti Gatorskins for years as my go-to trainer. I'm 1,000 miles into my first set of Rubino III's and I won't go back to Gators. They roll better, smoother ride, better handling. I rotated after 500 & again at 1,000 and I really can't see much wear. I've ridden smooth roads, roads hammered by construction, CO mountain roads, cobbled asphalt, and so far (knock wood) zero flats!

Good all-around trainer tires!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I put this tire slightly above Continental Gatorskin for Training rides. They are quick, fairly supple, wear very well and handle nicely, and have good puncture resistance. Also if needed, like the Gatorskin, for Max Toughness they come in the Tech Edition which has sidewall reinforcement just like the Gatorskin.

The name says Black Fold, but the tech specs say wire bead, not foldable. Which is it?

Responded on

I think that's an error. I've ridden the 2s and 3s and both were folding and came in a box identical in size to open corsa evos. There is a rubino (non pro) that is a wire bead but it's only 60 tpi and costs less $. CC needs to correct the spec.

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These tires stick to the road, and handle the toughest roads i ride on. I have not had a flat yet, and are leaps and bounds better than the stock tires my bike came with. I am still wondering when i will get a flat!

Good High-Mileage Tire

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've used three sets of these tires and both times got almost 3,500 miles from the set (rotating them once). My last set was covered in nicks when I retired them. They are very easy to mount and have slightly above average road feel and performance considering their design. I prefer Rubino 3s in 25mm to Gatorskins.

Oh yeah, as of the date of my comment, the tech specs are totally messed up. Just sayin'. Says they are wire bead and weight 144 grams!!! Here's my specs: my last set averaged about 230-235 grams and were accurate in terms of width.

One of the best training tires

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Vittoria has been manufacturing pro-level bicycle tires for 60 years. It shows. Their range and R&D is pretty amazing.

The Vittoria Rubino Pro 3 is by far my favorite overall riding and training tire. Excellent grip, handling, good wear (much better than dedicated racing tires), good puncture protection (ditto), and wonderful road "feel." The latter sets these Rubino Pro's apart.

True, the Rubino Pro 3 is not a racing tire. That is what the awesome (but much faster wearing) Vittoria "Corsa" line of racing tires are for.

I use Corsa race tires in 23 mm size for race, crits, or timed runs on clean, dry, smooth roads. Otherwise, I use these Rubino Pro 3's in the 25mm size (235g) for everything else. And, honestly, I often use Rubino Pro 3's in the 28mm size (245g) for training in the Winter months on the wet and rough (chip & seal) roads in my area. 28mm tires provide much better traction, braking, and handling in these conditions; yet still roll fast and are relatively light. Rubino Pros are great tires!

Responded on

What pressure are the 28mm tires rated for? I can't seem to find any info on those specifically, and I, perhaps in error, assume they would have a different rating to the narrower tires.

Long Service Life, OK Handling

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

If you're on a tight budget but still want some decent handling, the Rubinos are a solid choice. They corner well, though not as well as the Diamantes and Corsas, but they three times as long as Corsas and half again as long as Diamantes. The tread pattern deals with wet conditions reasonably well, too. If you want a training tire and don't care about handling, the Rubino is a solid option. If you want something you can corner on a bit better, but still lasts and won't break the bank, check out the Diamantes.

so far so good!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

i've used the a handful of times and so far i love these tires! they grip the roads really well. i run them about 100 psi and i have not had a flat yet.. i am a fan of these tires, work and feel great!

This cut and no flat!

Got this cut in my old Vittoria Rubino Pro 3 Clinchers about 500 miles ago, still no flat! Have over 2000 miles and they are good for another 1000 I would guess. Bought a new set because I was worried about this cut, but I'm not going to replace them yet.

This cut and no flat!
Responded on

So true. I had a very similar dimple-type cut in my Rubino Pro 3 rear tire and still got 3,000 miles out of it, at least half of that after the damage. Reassuring.

i like that they have several colors to choose from so that you can deck out your bike, i've gotten many compliments.

aside from their appearance, these are also thick and feel very durable. they have great traction so that i feel safer cornering, not having to worry about them skidding out. i haven't gotten a flat with these since the 3 months i've had them.

Great tires

Bought some of these for my wife to replace her old cheapies. We were looking for a pair of durable tires that didn't create a lot of resistance and these have worked out exceptionally. She loves the way they ride and they grip the road well without adding a lot of extra weight to the bike. I would recommend these to the casual biker and work commuter.

Italian for victory

Robust training tires with a ride quality that approaches a lot of racing tires. I have been running these since December on winter roads with no problems or flats (flats happen sometimes but seem to be less of an issue on fresh, high-quality rubber) I'll be purchasing these again.

Rock Solid!

I purchased these for my commuter that typically gets ridden through all sorts of terrible roads with tons of debris and these are AMAZING! After pumping them up to 115 PSI they are so solid that rocks and other debris just bounces off the tire and the Kevlar definitely makes this one of the most rugged smooth road tires! If you are looking for something that will grip, inflate to a higher PSI for less rolling resistance, and need something rugged that will hold up over time look no further. This tire is something I plan on running on all my bikes from now on!

Does this tire come in a 700x25? I only see 23 & 28.
If a 700x25 fits ok on my Mavic Road rims will the 28 be ok or is that too close to call witrhout mounting one first?

Responded on

It does come in a 700x25 but RC does not sell it. Check out Amazon and they should have one.
