When your race is against the clock, and maybe a few friends, compromise is never acceptable. Vittoria's Crono Evo CS Tubular Tire is the tire of choice for those days when you need to be your fastest.
Vittoria used a Corespun T 320 tpi casing, which was handmade using the finest polyester thread, overspun with cotton. This particular casing was crafted to bear the high pressures typical when minimal rolling resistance is the number one goal. That said, the high density fabric was coated in natural latex rubber, creating a supple and responsive tire that absorbs energy and rebounds from irregularities in the road surface, again minimizing resistance. The same can be said for the natural latex tube inside the Crono Evo CS Tubular Tire. It's widely accepted that latex tubes are faster, saving you a few watts to maintain a given speed. When seconds count, details like these add up to a winning combination.
Vittoria's Kevlar SiO₂ rubber compound blends minimal rolling resistance with excellent traction and durability thanks to its high silica content and percentage of microscopic Kevlar particles. And where many ultra-lightweight TT tires forego any sort of puncture resistant breaker under the tread, the Crono Evo CS Tubular Tire has no such weakness. After all, we can't always race on freshly paved courses. and Vittoria's PRB (puncture resistant belting) nylon layer may be the difference between a personal best or waiting for the sag wagon.
The Vittoria Crono Evo CS Tubular Tire is available in 700c x 22mm only. It has a Black tread and comes with a 42mm alloy valve stem.
