The main principles guiding Vega's Nutritional Shake revolve around a raw, whole food, alkaline, and plant-based diet. The shake was created by professional Ironman athlete Brendan Brazier, who, after finding it difficult to locate a convenient, all-in-one supplement that was free of dairy, gluten and soy, without added sugar, artificial flavors, colors or sweeteners, decided to formulate his own.

The Nutritional Shake's formulation was created to be a nutrient-supplementing addition to your favorite smoothie recipe, or even a glass juice or water. Vega spent considerable time listening to athletes and gathering feedback regarding nutritional supplement consumption, which contributed to its 'one-a-day' serving approach. This means that with one scoop of Vega's Nutritional Shake formula each day, you maximize the nutritional density of your shake or drink in a single serving.

The Vega Nutritional Shake helps you cover your key nutrient bases by providing 50 percent of your daily intake of vitamins and minerals. It contains 15g of protein, which is derived from pea protein, SaviSeed (sacha inchi) protein, hemp seed protein, and sprouted whole grain brown rice protein. The shake also contains 24 percent of your recommended daily intake of fiber, provided through its 6g of fiber per serving. This is primarily sourced from flax, inulin (fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS)), and pea. The shake also boasts 1.5g of Omega-3 per scoop, which Vega sources from white chia, whole flax seed, and hemp.

Vega equally focused its attention on the antioxidant, green, and probiotic departments with its new shake formulation. One serving of Vega One provides as many antioxidants as 2.7 cups of blueberries, provided in the form of maqui, goji, and acai berries, as well as pomegranate seed, mangosteen, and grape seed extract. For the greens, Vega delivers three servings of vegetables, mainly in the form of its 'Green Blend.' This features chlorella, alfalfa grass, spinach leaf, broccoli, and kale.

The Vega Nutritional Shake is available in Berry, Chocolate, Natural, and Vanilla flavors. It comes in both 15 and 30oz containers.

Breakfast of Champions

A great way to start the day or recover after a long day on the trail or bike. Start most of my days with Vega shake. Not overly filling, but gets me through until lunch!

    Great product!

Extremely stoked to have finally found a protein/nutritional shake that doesn't have any whey! I drink this every morning mixed with unsweetened almond milk and half a banana (berry flavor). I think it's tastes great, plus it keeps me full and gives me energy. Definitely making this a staple as an everyday supplement!

      Post Workout or Meal Replacement

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've been drinking Vega for about a year now as an after work out shake or as an occasional meal replacement. It is definitely chalkier and doesn't taste as good as your typical Whey Protein Shake, but it does have vitamins, nutrients, fiber, & probiotics in every serving. That something most, if not all, dairy based shakes can't purport. It is a little more expensive than comparable vegan protein shakes out there, but blows them out of the water on taste. Bottom line: Worth the money & you can't go wrong with chocolate.

      Daily Smoothie

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Vega has taken the spot in my daily smoothie routine. I've only tried the chocolate so for, but I really like the taste. It has a different taste than your typical whey protein, although is much preferred over some of the other plant based protein powders I've had before. Blend with a frozen banana and some water for an easy, yummy, nutritious breakfast.

      Great meal replacement

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Firstly, I don't know which flavors the nay-sayers have tried, but I find the taste of Vega One to be amongst the best of protein shakes I've tried (vanilla is my favorite). It's also not gritty or clumpy at all!

I love the amount of protein, fruits and veggies in here - comparable to Shakeology but cheaper, less calories, and plant based!

Not super tasty, but worth every penny!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I use Vega One almost every day. As someone who never gets in enough vegetables, discovering this was a life saver. My favorite breakfast routine is Vega One chocolate, PB2 (powdered peanut butter) and no sugar added vanilla almond milk: a huge improvement on taste versus mixing with water.

      - feel full longer
      - 6 servings of veggies in one scoop!
      - 15g protein
      - promotes overall sense of awesome-ness

      - taste can be overpowering if mixed in smoothies (I tried using vanilla in a pumpkin smoothie and could barely taste the pumpkin)
      - price
      - slightly funky after taste

      Great Results But Unpleasant Taste

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Seeing that this product was created by a former professional Ironman triathlete and not some concoction being pushed at GNC, I was eager to give it a try.

I've had one serving a few times a week for about three weeks now, and I've been impressed. I feel fuller in the mornings, I have more energy, and I like the that I'm getting a lot of my daily nutrition requirements first thing in the morning.

I bought a canister of the french vanilla, and while it's not the tastiest thing I've had, I also drink it simply with water, often because I'm in a hurry in the morning. It's a bit chalky, but after a few days I've gotten used to it and now I don't notice as much.

But, as an avid runner and triathlete, I'm always being hungry, and this helps keep me full through the morning. It's become a regular supplement with breakfast and I'm sure I'll buy another container.

      Power Smoothie

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I like this best mixed into a fruit smoothie (1 banana, 1 cup of blueberries and 1/2-1 cup of water or almond milk) for breakfast. On its own, it's not the most palatable, but not bad if you drink it fast. I find the Natural flavor is the least sweet.

      Great Energy

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This shake gives me great energy all throughout the day. I doesn't taste good but it is still worth the results.

      Power in a shake

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Have been using this protein for the last year. Stoked on this addition to my diet. More or less, use this in between working out and eating. Has helped hold me over right after touring, hiking, climbing...whatever activity it is. Protein is so necessary! Love the flavor and that it's a healthy protein shake.

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Finally a protein shake that isn't fully of nasty dairy, whey whateverness. I prefer the vanilla (not currently in stock) but the chocolate is decent if you blend with a banana and ice.

      Wrong Picture and Specs

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

As ricp996709 also noted, the picture and the specs are for the 30oz size. I didn't notice the 15oz description in the drop down selection when ordering and was surprised to find the smaller container when opening my package.

Been using this product for a long time. Best nutritional shake I have tried.

      Picture Misleading

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The picture of the item for sale indicates that it is a 30oz bottle as does the "tech specs" 21-24 servings per container at 1.3oz to 1.5 oz per scoop, however the drop down only offers 15 oz option. Bit misleading.

The product itself is great. I prefer the "natural" flavor and then blend some fruit w/ almond milk. It is very filling and doesn't have a weird chalky taste like many products in this category.

Amazing taste, get's the job done

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Every morning, I?ve been indulging in Vega?s Nutritional Shake. It?s actually become a rather delightful part of my morning, mainly due to its rather decadent taste. This shake isn?t too sweet, though, so getting through a glass is never a chore. I?m also glad that it doesn?t contain 100% of all the required vitamins and minerals. Instead, each shake hits around the 50% mark, which leaves room for natural vitamin consumption. This way, I?m not left overdosing on daily a basis.

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This stuff is great. The chocolate flavor, in particular, is really nice. I typically loathe chocolate-flavored nutrition shakes because they mostly suck, but this blends really nicely in just a shaker bottle, and has a tolerable consistency. I like the number of vitamins and minerals and the relatively low calorie count in a single serving.
