Description

The perfect fit.

As you're well aware, three sports pose three distinct sets of difficulties. This is true for training and racing, but this dilemma also extends itself to apparel design. There are a host of variables that are able to cause bunching, chafing, and drag, which is why appreciate the foresight and planning of the TYR Competitor Tri Women's Singlet even more.

For the bulk of the Competitor Tri Singlet's construction, TYR used a blend of polyester and spandex. Why these two fibers? Well, polyester is easily the most versatile fiber in sports apparel. Case in point is the venerable Lycra material. It provides a supportive, yet non-constrictive, structure, while remaining soft-to-the-touch. Additionally, with the elasticity of the added spandex content, the resulting material is granted a four-way stretch. So, your freedom of movement is guaranteed, regardless of the discipline at hand.

More importantly, though, the fabric presented here is incredibly efficient at managing moisture. Essentially, perspiration and water are pulled away from the skin and transported to the quick-drying surface of the top. In fact, this characteristic has been further through TYR's incorporation of side mesh panels. As a result, thermo-regulation is maintained at a consistent level, while your dryness is guaranteed, minimizing the risk of discomfort.

In terms of fit, TYR designed the Competitor Tri Singlet for competitors, meaning that it's ready for endurance racing. It features a slender, falling silhouette, a 10-inch locking zipper, and a slightly lowered neckline. The arm openings fall straight from the rotator cuff of the shoulder and have been made quite spacious in the vertical sense. This was performed intentionally, as the scapula and rotator cuff express the most extreme locomotion throughout a triathlon. Accordingly, TYR left this area open to allow an uninhibited swim stroke, a non-pinching adaptation to the time-trial position, and full swing to the arms during the run.

For storage of your race nutrition, TYR has also included an ample-sized rear pocket.

The TYR Competitor Tri Women's Singlet is available in five sizes from X-Small to X-Large and in the colors Black/red, Black/grey, Black/blue, Light Blue/black, and Purple/black.

Allows great range of motion!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This weekend was the first time I wore this singlet. I was kind of worried as I thought it might ride up like previous brands but it were so amazing. My triathlon group did a transitions clinic this past weekend and they used me as an example of what to wear during a triathlon they liked my "get up" so much. Through the transition this singlet was especially comfortable. I was able to jump in the pool and jump out to my bike with no issues and then run just as comfortably in it. It dried out extremely fast even helped the sports bra start drying that I wore underneath. It was very comfortable for the pool as I've heard a few people mention how their singlet doesn't give them enough room to move their arms for swimming but this TYR singlet allowed for full, effective, and comfortable motion. And I have to mention how much I LOVE the price on these as well. Photo: I'm on the far left with the model pose face in my TYR gear.
