Description

It's easier to do your job when you can count on your shorts doing theirs.

When you're smashing down a steep, technical section of singletrack on the knife-edge of control, the last thing you need to be thinking about is what your shorts are doing. The good folks at Troy Lee Designs know this. That's why they designed Moto Mountain Bike Shorts with an innovative ratcheting waistband for a custom fit that isn't going anywhere no matter how hard you ride or wipe out. Sure, you could wind up in the bottom of that gulley, but at least you'll still be wearing shorts.

The Moto's main body is made with tough 600D polyester, so you won't ever feel the crotch blow out as you contort in mid-air. The breathable mesh liner allows air to flow through and cool you down. The fabric lets your skin breathe to regulate its temperature while it wicks moisture away. Cargo pockets with magnetic closures on the thighs hold your keys or a multi-tool. The ratchet waist adjustment provides the perfect fit and won't loosen as you ride. Troy Lee even used tough TPR for the thigh logos to add a measure of protection.

Troy Lee Designs Moto Shorts are available in even sizes from 30 to 38. They come in Flo Yellow, White, Black, Green, Red, and Blue.

Nice shorts, but run small.

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Got these to match a jersey and also got a pair of the new Moto shorts in black, had to keep the new ones even though I had to cough up more for them. The waist was a 38, I ordered 36 in the new shorts, kept the 36 in the new shorts. These were tighter around my hips and thigh, felt a bit constricted since I'm a tubby guy (225lbs, 5'11", big legs) so I went with the new ones even though the size was smaller, go figure.

Bomber Shorts

These shorts are burly. Lots of pockets and some nice stretchy material on the inner leg to help with movement when pedaling. These seem to run a little small so I would suggest sizing up.

Run small

As always with Troy Lee these shorts are well made and well thought out. They are what DH shorts should be. I found they run small and slim. Ususally wear a 37/38 waist shorts and these fit smaller than 36 waist shorts that I have. They also are a bit more fitted in the thighs and hip area. Not a issue for thinner riders but if you have man thighs like me and like burgers then these might not work.

Favorite shorts for DH

The Troy Lee Moto shorts are hands down my favorite short to ride for downhill, they are super durable, offer tons of protection and move well with your body. I never used the removable hip pads and think the fit is really great without them. As far as sizing, they are pretty much true to what you would wear as a street short or pair of jeans.

I have used the Fox Demo short as well, which I think are great, but I feel more protected in the Troy Lee's.
