Light and right.

There are legions of riders who swear by the Troy Lee Designs D3 Composite Helmet, and it’s not just for the aesthetics. Sure, it’ll help you look a little bit more like some of your heroes, as it has killer graphics and is insanely comfortable, but those factors don’t mean a thing without protection to match. And that’s not a problem — the D3 exceeds every relevant helmet standard. That means that your brain is in good hands, so to speak. Those hands just happen to be really, ridiculously good looking.

The D3 Composite is made with Troy Lee's composite shell. While it weighs slightly more than the carbon fiber version, it exceeds all the same safety standards. In other words, you give up a few grams, and the fancy carbon weave, but are still left with an astoundingly comfortable, eye-catching lid. It’s accented with custom titanium hardware that’s lightweight and super durable. The helmet comes with two visors, so you can pop a new one on in the event of a visor-smashing digger. TLD also threw in a custom helmet bag to protect the incredible paint jobs that the D3 wears so well.

Full incremental sizing, rather than a cheesy adjustment system, gives the D3 a completely custom feel. Dual-density shock pads provide luxurious comfort and unprecedented protection. Thanks to an intelligent design, the D3 exceeds CPSC 1203, CE EN 1077, CE EN 1078, ASTM F1952, and ASTM F2040 safety standards. In other words, you’re giving your brain the absolute best chance of walking away from harrowing crashes unscathed. Troy Lee's comfort liner is completely removable, washable, and replaceable, so you don't have to buy a new one if the liner gets irreparably funky. The liner is also made with CoolMax and Dri-Lex moisture-wicking materials to keep your head dry and cool while you ride. And Troy Lee also equipped the D3 with quick-release cheek pads to make the helmet easier to remove in case of an emergency.

Troy Lee didn't stop at padding to make the D3 the most comfortable helmet on the market. The D3's ventilation system keeps the air flowing with an advanced intake/exhaust system. Twenty high-flow intake and exhaust ports, together with a new, deeper EPS channeling system, provide cooling airflow through the helmet.

The Troy Lee Designs D3 Composite Helmet comes in six sizes, from X-Small to XX-Large and is available in the colors Finishline, Zink, Pinstripe II, and Speed.

  • Composite shell
  • 20 ventilation ports

Good helmet

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I have been wearing troy lee helmets for a long time now. The sizing always seems to be a little big for me so I have always had to add the extra pads to fill up the space. The D3 has always been a comfy helmet in my eyes. I have gone thru 2 this summer but then again I have crashed so hard that I have cracked the liner. But its a helmet and they are made to take one good crash before having to replace it. I do wish that the visor would adjust more I feel like it sits to low.

Good helmet

great helmet

  • Gender:Male
  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

Fit was spot on for my 11yr old. Much higher quality than Giro one witch has many fractures in the shell after 2 years hard use. I will get one more next year for the next little shred.
