Nice, Lightweight Glove. Limited Padding
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I've been using the gloves for long rides in alpine terrain as well as lower elevation rides in the woods. They breathe really well and perform well in the heat. The hand padding is very slim, but seems to work just fine. I've got the small and they fit my small hands incredibly well. No gaps or extra fabric.
My Favorite Gloves of 2013
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Previously the SixSixOne Raji gloves used to be my favorite riding gloves as they were lightweight, breathable, and had minimal padding. Low and Behold, Troy Lee Designs has really upped the ante with the Ace Glove. The fit is the best I've tried so far which is in part to the well thought out design and materials. The materials used feel like a step above anything I've used in the past. The palm is Clarino which offers good grip and dexterity while offering great durability. The upper breathes better than I expected. Finally my 2 favorite parts of the glove that I wasn't expecting are on the thumb. TLD sewed in a small portion on the tip of the thumb to work with a touch screen. It was a little feature I didn't realize I would use as much as I do on my smart phone or Garmin 510/810. Second is the super soft material on the back of the thumb that is incredibly comfortable against skin. It makes it super comfortable to wipe dirt off your lips from a screaming descent or snot off your nose from an unrelenting climb. Now all my other gloves feel like sandpaper.
As for fit, my wrist is 7in and base of my hand to tip of finger is 7.5in, the size Large fits spot on.
