Tested with heavy crash
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Pretty comfortable though isn't the softest directly against skin especially against chest hair. Getting to the point, I had a very heavy moto crash (broken pelvis, hand, double dislocated shoulders) in this and everything it covered was ok. My chest and ribs were sore from the hit but the pads took up a bunch of the impact so nothing broke. Also had several trips onto my shoulders and back before that wreck where I just popped back up and was totally fine. Even as great as it helps it's quite bulky so I save it for bike park days when it's not too hot and run lighter protection on hot days or anytime I'm going to be doing any amount of pedaling. I also recommend bringing it into the shower after every use to keep the stink down as it can get pretty funky. If you want maximum protection that's not a hard shell and is pretty comfortable this is your best choice IMO.
