Foam rollers have become an increasingly popular body manipulation tool for both stretching and exercise. The foam roller meets the 21st century with The Grid from Trigger Point Performance Therapy.

Rather than being a solid, single-density cylinder, The Grid is a hollow, multi-density cylinder that allows for different kinds of pressure. As with other rollers, this can be used for full-body massaging and post-exercise flushing, an easy way to stretch and de-kink tired muscle groups. The Grid's advantage is that the padding has three distinct zones for three different kinds of pressure. There are low and flat pads that mimic the feel of the forearm and palm of your hand. There are small high and firm pads that your body will sense to be like fingertips. And then there are medium and tubular pads that feel like a thumb and fingers. While you can roll over all of these, you can set the roller so that certain zones roll against the body back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, giving you the massage experience your body needs.

If you're particularly sensitive to hard pressure, The Grid offers a softer touch than the Quadballer or Footballer. This can be particularly useful when your muscles are really sore.

The Grid is not only for stretching, but is excellent for executing core exercises as well. It serves as a rolling base that demands coordination and attention and helps focus your mind and body on good form while exercising.

The Grid from Trigger Point Performance Therapy measures thirteen inches long and five inches in diameter.

Loving it

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is my first foam roller. I started using it because my physical therapist ask me to get one. I like the design, the price is good. Highly recommended.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Can't go wrong with the trigger point foam roller.
I love the hollow core and the shortened length making it great for car camping trips and anywhere on the go. I used to keep this at my office desk and I'd roll out when I had some down time.

Makes Me Cry

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I am new to the world of rollers and as such have a very low tolerance as of this moment to the roller. That being said i always feel better after i use it and am trying to work it into my routine a bit more.

The good pain

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This was my first foam roller, never tried one, and boy, was this an experience! Nothing quite like suffering with this (after suffering with training) and then feeling the relief. Just beautiful.

The roller has a good size, doesn't use too much space in my room and allows for a lot of variants in it's use.

It's and all around great roller, don't have much experience but this one definitely exceeded my expectations and it continuos to work and help me on my training

Break it up!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Muscle aches and pains? Lactic acid buildup? Roll this on the sore spots and feel the breakup of scar tissue breathe again.

My new best friend

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

My gym has these foam rollers and I quickly learned how beneficial it is to use a foam roller like this one, the inner plastic makes this roller give less than a full foam one you see from the yoga brands. It equals a better roll out for sore muscles, and I can't live without this thing now! would definitely recommend to anyone who is living an active lifestyle and could benefit from a nice roll out.

Sore Muscles Watch Out!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a great tool to have after a workout in the gym or any outdoor activity! I roll my muscles for about 10-15 minutes after I workout and while it is painful when you first start off, but it is way better than being sore for a few days. The best part about this roller is you can choose what texture you roll out on which will increase/decrease the pressure.

Hurts like an unicorn kick

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

It hurts so good! I had sciatic nerve pain for more than a month and it didn't go away, pills and rest weren't helping so I went to the doctor and besides therapy my physical therapist suggest me to get a foam roller to help to reduce the pain and accelerate the recovery process. Because of the different textures of this roller I was able to play with different kinds of pressure my therapist suggest. After 1 week no more pain! Now I use it regularly on the days I do exercise just to keep the pain away :)

Use Twice a day to keep the pain away

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this roller to replace a foam roller I had been using and it definitely exceeded my expectations. You can roll out your IT bands, your calves, gluts, back, quads giving them all feel the liberated feeling they deserve. I have been waking up and rolling on it in the AM for a few minutes and then watching Netflix and rolling/stretching in the evening after the long day. If you are active and your not as limber as you'd like to be this is an easy quick fix and is something I would highly recommend anyone add to their fitness routine.

note: it is easier to roll out shirtless ;)

Be careful!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought a trigger point to help with some muscle pains. I spent 2-3 minutes rolling on my back with it and the next day I woke up with a bunch of blood blisters on my back! I think the pattern pinched skin while rolling. I ended up just getting a plain foam roller off of Amazon for about $15 that works great and doesn't have the ridges which gave me the blood blisters

Lactate Acid Beware!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Ohhhh it feels so good! Break down all the sore spots with the trigger point! Really mobile and easy to get to all the spots!

Great Addition to Guest Room/Gym

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

It’s solid, but soft enough. Some foam rollers have too much give, where Senor Roller brings the firmness. Rollout sore muscles to save on costly chiropractor visits.

Hollow is better

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I prefer this roller over a solid foam one. The hard plastic tube seems to offer more consistency in the pressure. It also makes it more convenient for travel and use in small spaces as the inside can be filled with smaller items in your luggage.

Grid Iron

I recently got a massage and my therapist was all sorts of upset about the state of my lower back - she recommended a foam roller.

Backcountry only had this one in stock at the time, so I purchased. I found the whole concept of spending 7 years to mimic the touch of a human somewhat hokey, but it feels pretty nice.

I now visit this thing pretty much every day, it's amazing how well a few little rolls will improve your back! I do wish it came with a set of instructions or tips...all you get is a lame brochure with promo stuff for other products. You have to buy all the instructional stuff separately - which peeved me a little.

I'll have to spend some quality time on the Youtubes to learn some more advanced foam rolling maneuvers.

    Here's my fav resource: http://www.runnersworld.com/running-tips/roll?page=single

I'll update this review in regards to durability at some point in the future.

My dog definitely had a little interest with my roller during her teething stage. other than a few tiny punctures my roller is going strong for 2-3 years.

Please insert gratuitous shot of your puppy chewing on foam roller now.
