TIME ATAC XS Pedal $0.00
Strong, light, fast.
Thread a set of Time ATAC XS Mountain Bike Pedals onto your cranks for easy engagement, knee-friendly float, and low rotational weight. They seem to be saving my knees
- Gender: Male
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
As I'm getting older, my knees are in need of pedals which have more float. These puppies have done the trick. Lots of power, easy on the knees, AWESOME! Not sure why I didn't pick them up earlier.
This is the first pair of Time pedals I've bought, and it won't be my last. I've had these for a few week and have been stoked on the performance. Great shoe to pedal power, easy to get in and out of, and the perfect amount of float. They were a little sticky the first few rides out of the box, but broke in quickly. I will report back if any problems arise.
Best pedals out there
I use these for road, mountain, and commuting --they're on all of my bikes. I used to use SPDs, but have had three fairly major knee surgeries, and needed a little more float. I tried Crank Brothers for their renowned float, but never got comfortable on them, and then broke a spindle. That was the end of that. These were next, and I haven't looked back. You get float, but it never feels like your foot is moving the way they do on CBs. You get a bit of platform so it's not all on your shoes, and they're super easy to get in and out of, you never get SPD'd and fall over because you can't unclip. They're spendy, and the lower end models are not nearly as nice as this one and the titan, but I think it's worth it for the performance.
I second the other review that suggests this pedal is A) really, really great and B) clears mud like no other, except for maybe the flimsy, Crank Bros eggbeater-style pedals. I've not had any experience with servicing the pedal, but am comforted to read all of the reviews on mtbr and here that detail good experiences with that side of things. This pedal was my first clipless, and I must say, they're so easy to get in and out of. For those of you just getting into the game, don't bother with the platform/clipless hybrids. The platforms are quite the mental crutch and serve only to get in the way of getting into the pedal. Obviously, just my opinion.
One small issue, I went from one shoe to another, using the same cleat and for about 5 rides, I experienced about 1mm of play on my right pedal. It has since disappeared, but if you read more reviews, you'll see others have had this problem, as well.
If you can pick these up on CL for around $100, they're an absolute steal. If not, get 'em anyway!

The greatest pedal ever. Light, strong, serviceable and adjustable. I do not condone riding muddy trails, but if you're going to, these will clear mud like you wouldn't believe. Fantastic for cross, commuting or mountain biking. Time pedals have replaced all of my shimano spd and crank bros pedals. I have ATACs on my XC and FS trail bike, and the cheaper Alums on my commuter. I broke a Time Alum by smashing it really hard into a rock a couple of times over a couple of years, and Time sent me a brand new pedal. I love them.
