Description

The North Face meets the North Shore.

Some of the world's finest freeride trails also happen to be in some of the world's wettest climates. The North Face has the answer to this conundrum. No, not studded tires. We're talking about the Shifter Jacket. This water-resistant breathable jacket is built with highly breathable HyVent, so you know you'll stay dry and comfortable from the waist up. Keeping the rubber side down on wet tree trunks, rocks, and ladder bridges is up to you.

The Shifter jacket lets your body breathe, so sweat vapor can escape and you won't have that nasty, clammy feeling that you get in regular rain jackets. The mesh-lined zip back vents also help with cool comfort. The adjustable hem has a drop tail that keeps you covered while you're bent over pedaling. An adjustable, helmet-compatible hood and hook-and-loop adjustable cuffs completely seal off the weather and can be snugged up if it really gets rainy. The North Face also supplied the Shifter with plenty of pocket space and reflective elements that make you more visible at night.

The North Face Shifter Jacket comes in sizes S through XXL and is available in Sulphur Spring Green.

  • Durable, breathable nylon shell fabric
  • Generous cut to allow for pads and body armor
  • Water-resistant breathable Hyvent 2.5 layer laminate
  • Mesh-lined zip back vents allow heat and moisture to escape
  • Adjustable, helmet compatible hood for total protection
  • Hook-and-loop adjustable cuffs for a perfect fit with your gloves

More than a bike jacket

While designed for biking, I've found this to be a solid all-around rain jacket for most things outdoors. The cut is big enough that you can sneak a thin puffy underneath without feeling like your movement gets restricted, which makes it great for most three-season activities. The pockets are generous, with enough space for stashing bars on longer rides or other essentials. I'd have to say the one drawback is how packable it is- you can stash it your pack, but it doesn't compress as much as some other TNF products.
