Mountain biking might not be the first image that The North Face conjures up. But, this iconic brand does apply the same refinement, technology, and design prowess of its ski and climbing products to gear for riding in the dirt. Take, for example, the cross country-focused Dusties Women's Shorts.

With the Dusties, you'll find all of the cycling-specific essentials, like a wide elasticized waistband, reflective logos, and articulated fit, but you'll also find smart details that core riders will appreciate. This starts with a removable liner/chamois, as any pair of cycling shorts needs to have a quality, anatomic pad. Along these lines, the insert featured here supports the sit bones, protects the surrounding nerves, and wicks away moisture in order to provide a total level of comfort when seated and pedaling.

Additionally, the Dusties' liner is easy remove. So, the lightweight shell is able to be worn either pre- or post-ride. The shell, itself, is constructed from a polyester and elastane blend with reinforced stitching and bartacking throughout for added durability. The North Face also treats this fabric with a durable water repellent finish in order to keep you dry through creek crossings, wet vegetation, and the occasional mid-ride storm.

And while the shell of the Dustie Shorts is highly breathable, it also has mesh thigh vents and mesh-lined hand pockets that cool your legs during the peak of summer. And to keep your lenses clear, The North Face also included a sunglasses wipe in the inner-right pocket.
