Description

Outsmart the weather(man).

You can't trust the weatherman. It may sound like a mean thing to say, but the fact is that they just can't always know what's going to happen, no matter what degrees they have. So, even if the weatherman tells you it's going to be sunny all day, it's always a good idea to carry a rain jacket when you go riding. The North Face designed the Crestlite Jacket specifically for mountain bikers, so it has all the features that you need to stay dry and comfortable in a sudden shower. The best part, though, is that it weighs only 6 ounces and packs down to a tiny size, so you won't even know you have it with you until you need it.

The true beauty of a mountain bike jacket, as opposed to a water-resistant rain or ski jacket, is that it's loaded with bike-specific features. To begin with, a large mesh-lined back yoke cape vent allows cooling air to flow freely through the jacket. A drop tail keeps your backside covered whether you're climbing in the saddle or standing to hammer out the descent, and the large zippered back pocket has room for your electronics where they won't bang around in front or poke you from your pants pockets. Lastly, but probably most importantly, the durable 100% polyester shell fabric allows your skin to breathe so that sweat vapor can get out before you start to feel clammy.

The North Face Crestlite Jacket comes in sizes S through XXL and is available in Black, Blue, Red, and Green.

  • Durable, breathable, wind- and water-resistant polyester shell fabric
  • Critical seams taped to reduce waterproof weak spots
  • Drop-tail to keep you covered
  • Only 6 ounces so you can keep it in your pack all the time
  • Elastic cuffs for a comfortable, snug fit around your gloves
  • Chest vent for convenient storage
  • Large mesh-lined cape vent dumps heat and sweat vapor
  • 1 large zippered back pocket for your keys, phone, MP3 player, etc

Great jacket

This was my first cycling jacket. Being 6'1, 220 lbs. with broad shoulders, I was pretty indecisive initially because many of the major cycling apparel brands design their clothes with pro cyclists in minds (i.e. horse jockeys with powerful legs!) I went with North Face knowing they understand the concept of a larger build. Tried both the L & XL, ended up keeping the XL. This jacket has a "medium" fit - not skin tight but also not too flappy in the wind, making it a great option for both road or mtn biking. It's feather-lite and rolls up into the back pocket if desired. The front chest pocket is perfect for an iPod or whatever. Good venting in back and sides. I would say it's adequate over a jersey alone down to 45F (for say a commuting/touring pace of cycling), below that additional layering would be advised Finally, the "Sulphur Spring Green" color (who thinks up these names? Honestly....) is bright and visible.
