Terry Bicycles is committed to researching and designing saddles that cater to all levels of female cyclists —from the casual rider to the consummate professional. The Damselfly was developed at the behest of Terry's cycling team, with a unique profile specifically designed to maximize positioning and power while racing.
The Damselfly is a lightweight (230grams) saddle that allows riders to feel the road while still providing cushioning for maximum comfort. The multi-density foam padding is firmer on the paddles to provide support for sit bones and softer toward the middle and nose to cushion delicate soft tissue. Additionally, it features Terry's signature cut out and channel to aid in pressure relief. This cut-out is unique in that it flexes rather than compressing — it supports rather than collapsing under your weight. The saddle sits on Vanox rails for durability and stiffness.
A unique profile was designed for the Damselfly. First the nose is slightly longer than Terry's other road saddles. This added length allows the rider maximum fore-aft mobility while sprinting. The saddle is 130mm, and while the width may be too narrow for some women with wider sit bones, for those riders who are narrower, the width allows movement across the entire saddle. While a touring or endurance rider may perch in one position for hours on end, professional riders, especially those who specialize in shorter, faster criterium races, need to move about the saddle to maximize power to respond to breakaways and sprints. The slightly elevated paddle assists with comfortably rolling the pelvis forward and the drop nose relieves pressure while rotated forward. Finally, the saddle in covered in smooth leather which aides position mobility.
The Terry Damselfly Saddle is available in one size, 267mm by 130mm and in the color Black.
