Slimmed down and more accepting.

In the mode of constantly refining, and to keep up with aftermarket computer technology, Tate Labs completely revised its 'out-in-front' Garmin computer mount with the Bar Fly 2.0. The mount now includes a new mounting position, it accommodates two computer sizes, and it provides housing for an electronic junction box underneath.

With the Bar Fly 1.1, we were introduced to the 1/8th turn engagement technology. This tactile 'click' lock-in feature carries over to the 2.0, but the mount itself was given a complete overhaul. The Bar Fly 2.0 was built with two computer mounting positions that are optimized for Garmin's 200/500 computer, as well as its 510/800/810 models. Once mounted, your computer now sits level with the stem instead of above it, as was the design on the original Bar Fly. The main bracket arm was also slimmed down in order to decrease weight compared to the 1.1. Additionally, the Bar Fly 2.0 was designed with electronic group sets in mind. Both Shimano Di2 and Campagnolo EPS junction boxes now conveniently mount underneath the 2.0.

And, just like the Bar Fly 1.1, the 2.0 is still manufactured in the USA out of Delrin, which is a stiff thermoplastic used in applications where durability is an absolute must. With no screws to lose, and 'zero risk of over-clamping and crushing lightweight carbon bars,' the Bar Fly 2.0 positions all of your Garmin devices directly in the center of the handlebar for a safe viewing position.

The Tate Labs Bar Fly 2.0 is available in the color Black and it mounts to 31.8mm diameter handlebars.

Will the Edge 1000 work with this mount?

What's not to love?

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

Got one of these when the 2.0 first came out. Has done it's job perfectly ever since. Computer is secure (I'm a roadie), the nylon/plastic construction doesn't scratch up my carbon bars or shave off the tabs on my computer, and having the junction box tucked tidily underneath it is a bonus. And it's cheaper than many other options out there.

Love it.

Doin' it and doin' it well

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I picked up a Barfly mount with a bit of concern for the durability of the plastic. Needless to say, that has been a non-issue, and the mount has served me well. I've even been known to swap it between bikes for a short while, and the material never seems to crack or deform despite repeated mounting/remounting. Not as sexy as the K-edge, but perhaps a bit more functional.

Sweet and slim

Installs in a snap - albeit a hex screw :) The plastic on this one is a better make up than some others - meaning that it is more pliable, vs other mounts that seem brittle.

Also, the entire 1/2 turn mount area is also plastic - some other metal ones (so I have heard from peeps) eventually wear out the back of your Garmin from on/off against the surface.

Great price from Competitive - waaay more reasonable than other mounts out there :)

If your just using the stem mount that comes with your Garmin, this is a must have.

Great Little Mount

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I've been using a k-edge mount but needed a new mount after snapping it in a crash. (Freak accident, still love you K-Edge!).

This is a really inexpensive alternative that works equally as great. Two mounting positions are awesome and with only one bolt to tighten it's a great option for quick transition if you own several bikes. Loving the purchase and very pleased thus far.

Much better than the stock plastic mount

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I really like this -- the Garmin now mounts up front gracefully, it's a much more comfortable position for me than on top of the stem.

Works great with my Garmin 500

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I can put it in either of the two mounting positions, and it feels far sturdier and more secure than the standard Garmin rubber-band mount. I understand it is compatible with Garmin devices that have a larger form factor, so I'm set if I decide to upgrade in the future.

The best

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I have tried the K-Edge, the stock Garmin and the race ware mounts and this is the absolute best of all.

Reall nice

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

This is great for those of us with an 800 and 500 garmin. I really like having one mount for my mtb that can hold both of my garmins.

That should say Real Nice

Simple & Secure

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I admittedly agonized over which OF mount to purchase for my Edge 510. So far, I am beyond happy with the BarFly 2.0.

Installation was beyond simple, though users should be careful when mounting to your handlebars - I imagine you could bend or break the plastic if you apply to much force.

Once installed, I've found it to be nothing short of perfect in use. The Garmin attaches with ease and feels 100% secure. The dual mounting positions on the BarFly seems elegant, but with the size of the Edge 510 only the front mounting point works.

Can't beat this bad boy for the price.

best of all of them!

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

I've tried the sram out front, garmin OF, and K-Edge garmin mounts. I like my k-edge a lot but the bolts protrude a bit. This Tate Labs BarFly 2.0 is the best of all of them and half the cost of the k-edge. Light, secure, and doesn't feel like it loosens it's hold on the garmin after lots of unmounts like how the K-Edge does.

Better than the others !

Love the two mounting position choices. No ugly hinge.
