Tacx Vortex Trainer $0.00
Focused on training.
Tacx is well aware of the monotony that's associated with standard indoor training, which is why it created its new Vortex Trainer. After all, cyclists who train indoors are familiar with attempting to distract themselves using music, podcasts, and bad television shows, which often results in half-hearted training sessions due to a lack of motivation. Now, with Tacx's new Vortex Trainer, you're able to escape all of this and become engaged with your training program. The innovative system provides the option for advanced virtual reality training software, while still retaining a professional level trainer in a single setup — simulating all of your favorite races through its sophisticated design.
Tacx constructed the Vortex's frame from stainless steel and aluminum, effectively making it both stable and incredibly durable. The construction easily handles load forces through its wide steel legs, with the rubberized feet keeping the frame in place on either a firm flooring surface or mat. Tacx made the Vortex simple to set-up, with just two bolts on the legs, and a large adjustable locking cam on the rear dropouts.
And while the Vortex's construction and ease of setup are significant, its functionality is what makes it even more impressive. With the Vortex, Tacx grants you access to your heart rate readings, power output, speed, and pedaling frequency. In more precise terms, your power is accurately expressed from 10 to 990 watts, and in readings of current, average, and maximum power. Likewise, your speed is capable of being read in categories of current, stop watch, trip distance, maximum, and average speed. And in terms of cadence, the Vortex is capable of providing current, average, maximum, and total revolution readings per session. But, you're probably wondering where this information is displayed? Well, it's actually displayed on a beautifully designed onboard computer. This computer mounts over the faceplate of your stem with two points of attachment. It's easy to navigate through, and it transmits your metrics directly to your home computer via ANT+.
Once you get riding, the Vortex allows you to adjust your workout for both power and slope. The Vortex operates off of an electro-brake system with eight magnets and a 2kg flywheel. So, you're able to maintain a realistic resistance under the wheel. And speaking of resistance, the Vortex features a maximum resistance of 950 watts -- more than enough to make efforts of a climb feel like an actual climb. Additionally, the advanced Tacx Trainer software (available separately) provides the resistance that you'd naturally experience from wind and incline resistance, as well as the feel of riding on paved roads, wood paths, grass, and even sand.
Now, for the aforementioned software, you gain immediate access to four animated Virtual Reality terrains, 2 criterium races, and velodrome Gameplay against virtual opponents. You also receive immediate access to Tacx's multiplayer web racing and catalyst training with 3D display. With this software, you're able to race against Tacx riders from all over the world, on the most historic courses in cycling, all on the Tacx server.
The Tacx Vortex Trainer is available in one color and in one size. It's adjustable in order to accommodate various wheel sizes from 600 to 640mm and 690 to 710mm. Please note that Virtual Reality software is not included with this trainer.
