Description

It doesn't get any more versatile.

When rides go from sunny and tepid to overcast and chilly in a matter of miles, balancing weather protection with breathability is vital to cycling comfort. Thankfully, the lightweight Sugoi Versa Women's Jacket combines the best features of a vest and jacket with its magnetically attached one-piece sleeve/top that removes and installs in seconds. Now, you have every variable of nature under control.

Unlike traditional convertible vest/jacket combos with two separate zip-on sleeves, the water- and wind-resistant Versa features a removable piece that's much like a shrug sweater. And with no small zipper tabs or multiple parts to struggle with, it's simple to remove or install in one swift motion. This is because the magnet clasps of the piece naturally find their mate. For storage, a large, easily accessible rear pocket holds the top when a vest is better suited for the conditions.

However, the Versa's ideal convertible system isn't the end-all solution to this high-tech jacket's temperature regulation and weather protection. The jacket is constructed from the Argon fabric. This is a woven rip-stop polyester barrier with a Durable Weather Repellent treatment that keeps you dry, yet it still allows perspiration to escape. This micro-climate system keeps your core warmer when the conditions calls for it, and it also ensures that the Versa won't become stifling when things heat up.

At the bottom of the sleeves, adjustable cuffs cinch down over gloves, while dual shock cords, accessed from the two zipped front pockets, allow the road-spray-blocking drop hem to prevent cool air from sneaking in. A soft micro fleece lining around the collar warms the neck without chafing the skin, and the reverse coil, full-length front zip has a guard that prevents pinching. For increased visibility to motorists in low-light conditions, Sugoi has also added reflective accents throughout the jacket.

The Sugoi Versa Women's Jacket is available in five sizes from X-Small to X-Large and in the colors Terracotta/gunmetal, Amethyst/black, Super Nova/black, and Black/amethyst.

Yeah... not what I expected

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Purchased this jacked recently for the Visibility factor and the Versatitlity. While the Removable sleeves were as fantastic as I was hoping the was really Nothing else to like about this jacket. Great if you are going for a jog I suppose, but i wouldn't have classified it as a "cycling" jacket. The Picture shows a drop tail ... or at least a little length in the back, when I finally got the jacket it was a straight cut across. It is alos listed as good for cool weather cycling. Well I am from Canada so I suppose Cool to me may mean something different but I don't think this would have kept me warm in a light spring breeze. Overall Not pleased with either the pictoral description nor the written. More than a bit misleading. Invested in the Gore 2.0 and The Pearl Izumi Select Barrier. Hoping for the best :) Happy Riding!

Coolest jacket I own

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I love this jacket! I have worn it almost daily since I bought it. It has been perfect layered over a wool t-shirt for 60 degrees and 50 mph wind as well as temps in the high 40s and light wind. Can't wait to see how it does this winter with warmer layers underneath. Being able to convert it from a jacket to a vest and back on the fly is an amazing feature. And the snaps make the coolest noise when it goes back together!

Love this jacket

I bought this jacket for a biking trip in France and it was perfect. I loved the versatility of, ease of taking sleeves off, soft material and great color. I also wore it as a windbreaker just walking around town and will continue to use it as a light weight jacket. i never wore it in rain so don't know about its performance there.

Responded on

As far as rain protection is concerned, you'll note that the description says this jacket is water "resistant". For better rain protection, try Gore' ALP-X 2.0 jacket (the 3.0 are coming out soon...maybe fall "13", as the jerseys are already available from Gore). It is a water-proof Goretex shell, with a removable hood; great on it's own, or over a warmer bike jacket. I pack this "just-in-case" on all my rides, caught in surprise rains too often! It breathes well and is extremely light weight. Has a drop down "apron" for when it pours, to protect you even more! Size up for base layers, or for additional protection over your warmer jackets, as needed.
Hope this helps...cause when it rains here, it pours and I'm sure glad I have this back up!
