The build of Storck's Scenero G2 Ultegra Complete Road Bike is the sum of multiple elements that — given accolades ranging from multiple Bike of the Year awards to constant scores just this side of perfection for the drivetrain — could all easily stand on their own as the key selling point of any complete bike. The fact that the Scenero G2 combines a full Shimano Ultegra groupset with a tailor-made Selle Italia Monolink saddle and the inimitable quality of DT Swiss wheels means that it's all but guaranteed to continue Storck's trend of selfishly amassing industry palmares while leaving nothing for the competition.

The Scenero G2 is constructed from Storck's own unidirectional carbon fiber which strategically reinforces the frame's stiffness in areas crucial to power transfer while also capitalizing on carbon's vibration damping properties. The result is a frame that elicits reactions normally reserved for the steel frames of yesteryear: springy, responsive, lively — all while benefiting from carbon fiber's impossibly low weight and stiffness. These properties begin as an engineer's dream in 3D CAD imaging. This dream manifests as resin-bathed carbon that matures in an atmosphere of heat and pressure and is finally smoothed by hand into finished Scenero G2.

The massive PressFit 86 bottom bracket juncture is the only reasonable partner for Shimano's new Hollowtech II four-arm Ultegra crankset, an easy finalist in our own Gear of the Year awards. Both the PF86 bottom bracket and the handsome crankset reduce weight while increasing efficiency, so the heart of the drivetrain is more than equal to everything from a charity century to a multi-peak day in the high mountains. This theme of efficiency bleeds out into the rest of the frame with Storck's proportional tubing concept, which adapts the dimensions, wall thickness, tube diameter, and tapered shapes of each frame to its specific size, ensuring a balance of fit and ride quality that most manufacturers outsource to a sliding graph.

The frameset is finished with Storck's own Stiletto Light fork, which localizes the philosophy underwriting the frame's construction to the front end, and DT Swiss's carbon/aluminum hybrid RC46H wheels. The RC46Hs cherry-pick the stopping power of alloy brake tracks, the aerodynamics of deep carbon rims, and the world's most knowledgeable hub manufacturing into one wheelset. These technologies, paired with an unrelenting dedication to hand-built perfection, result in a build that's balanced, lightweight, comfortable, and most importantly, fast.
