By opting for a tubeless setup like the Stan's NoTubes ZTR Arch EX 29in Wheelset for your wagon-wheel bike, you get all the speed of a 29-inch wheel's big contact patch but mitigate the extra weight of larger hoops by omitting the tubes. Stan's latest generation of Bead Seal Technology (BST) also means that there's no hit in safety and reliability, but you do benefit with increased tire volume for a confident ride that reduces rolling resistance even when riding with 30% less PSI than conventional clinchers.

The ZTR Arch EX rim used on this wheel build is an update on the original Arch. It's intended for aggressive riding and heavier riders, where the Crest and Flow are intended for XC and gravity respectively. The Arch EX drops 50g from the Arch, and does so while adding width and strength courtesy of the new BST design.

The wider, tougher, and lighter Arch EX rims are mated to a Stan's 3.30 hubs. They're equipped with smooth-spinning chromoly cartridge bearings that ride on a lightweight 7075 alloy axles. The rear hub body features large, 58mm flanges. The drive side houses a hardened 30-point engagement ring, while the non-drive side is machined to reduce weight. The front hub gets a 58mm disc-side hub, with a smaller, 45mm flange on the non-disc side to balance strength and weight. The wheels include Stan's rim tape and valve stems, already installed for instant use.

What adapter do I need to buy to convert the rear to quick release (10x135)?

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These were an upgrade wheel for my Niner Jet 9 RDO and they have been awesome from the start. I didn't realize what a huge effect a good pair of wheels has on a bike's handling until I got these. Just as advertised these seem to sit at the zenith of stiffness and lightness. They have also proven to be quite strong - staying true despite a few hard hits. Additionally, the greater internal rim width lends tires a wider and more usable contact patch.
