Alpha 340 Disc Wheelset

The Alpha rim features a refined version of Stan's NoTubes's Bead Socket Technology for an enhanced tire-to-rim seal. In addition to the tubeless benefits, this proprietary technology enhances the rim's durability. With a 20mm external width, these aren't the widest rims out there, but they're plenty wide for 33mm 'cross tires to have a solid footing, even when cornering aggressively. That stable platform is of particular importance if you choose to run tubeless tires. And with a proven setup like this, why wouldn't you?

The Alpha rim is laced to a Stan's 3.30 hubset. The hubs house smooth-spinning chromoly cartridge bearings that ride on lightweight 7075 alloy axles. The rear hub body features large, 58mm flanges. Meanwhile, the drive-side houses a hardened 30-point engagement ring, while the non-drive side is machined to reduce weight. The freehub is aluminum and it's compatible with Shimano and SRAM cassettes, with a Campagnolo freehub available separately. The front hub also gets a 58mm flange on the disc side in order to stiffen the wheel under hard braking. They run an 11-speed compatible freehub for compatibility with the latest drivetrains. And for futureproof-ness, both the front and rear hubs are convertible to a variety of thru-axle options. In other words, you'll be able to change bikes without the fear of being stuck with an incompatible wheelset.

The Stan's Alpha 340 Disc Wheelset is laced with 2.0/1.7/2.0 butted steel spokes and alloy nipples. It comes with Stan's rim tape and valve stems installed for instant use — just add tires, sealant, and air. The front hub ships with standard QR end caps, but end caps are available separately to convert the rear hub to a 12x135, or 12x142mm axle, and the front to a 15mm axle. Please note: the Alpha 340 wheelset has a recommended rider weight limit of 200 lbs.
