Power data for the trail.

When you combine SRM's proven power measuring technology with SRAM's Truvativ X0 carbon crankset, the result is a sophisticated system that provides the most accurate power readings available on the market today. With many XC and enduro courses remaining the same from year to year, SRAM and SRM knew that riders would benefit from being able to record specific aspects of course layouts and structure their training schedules accordingly. Knowing exactly how many accelerations, lengths, and durations of key climbs, as well as average power data for a certain race, work to an athlete's advantage while preparing for these events.

The SRM unit that's been mated to the Truvativ X0 crankset relies on the recently-improved eight strain gauge design for measuring data. These eight strain gauges for the powermeter are a system of sensors that detect any resistance and vary their output when experiencing applied force. The next step is for the strain gauges to convert this data into electrical resistance so that it's able to be measured. The refinements to the system provide stellar results. The SRM X0 2x10 expresses an accuracy of +/- 1.5% between 30 and 255 rpm with a wattage range between 0 and 4096 watts. The unit was rigorously tested to ensure maximum weatherproofing and durability both on the trail and race course, and it provides around 700 hours of battery life before needing to be replaced.

This Truvativ X0 10-Speed crankset uses carbon fiber much like the top-end XX crank, but there are a few differences worth noting. Unlike the XX crank, there's no alloy spine connecting the threaded pedal insert and the crank/spindle connection. SRAM engineers figured out a way to eliminate it, instead using a stiff structural foam core inside the composite skin. Don't think for a second that it's weaker -- part of SRAM's goal for X0 was to make it burly enough to handle the rigors of all-mountain riding. This 2x10 setup has a bolt circle diameter of 80/120mm. Of course, it's an exclusive measurement, but for the chainring tooth combinations SRAM wanted to provide, it optimizes the stiffness of the rings. And stiffer chainrings mean quicker, more precise shifts.

Not only did SRAM design its own optimized bolt circle diameters, but it also re-engineered the shift ramps, pins, and cutouts on the outer-chainring. On most chainrings these days, there are two sets of ramps and two drop points where the chain gets either lifted or dropped quickly under pressure. This means that you'll hit these spots twice on each pedal revolution. So, the shifting tends to be iffy if you shift at any other time. You've probably experienced this with the pause, clunk, and sometimes smooth movement on other crank systems. SRAM's X0 outer-ring allows perfect shifts just about all the way around the crank. SRAM calls this X-Glide. Another improvement stems from having only two rings. From the small ring, the chain is only able to go up, and from the big ring, only down. With this in mind, each ring was shaped specifically for its direct purpose.

The SRM X0 2x10 Powermeter Crankset is available with 175mm crankarms in the color Black. Additionally, SRM is providing this crankset with either a 42/28t or 39/26t chainring configuration. It is compatible with Standard Threaded BSA, BB92, and BB95 bottom brackets. It's also worth noting that it's compatible with BB30 frames only with BB30 adapters for 24mm spindles. The powermeter operates wirelessly with ANT+ Sport, but it does not include a CPU. However, it is compatible with PowerControl 7 or any other ANT+ Sport-compatible device.
