The SRAM XX front derailleur is fetish property, like porn—bike porn. SRAM designed the XX front derailleur using a durable steel cage and lightweight aluminum links. The cage is shorter (less material= less weight) than a triple-specific front derailleur, and narrower than the front derailleur made for your 9-speed cassette. The XX still boasts a 15-tooth capacity and SRAM claims the derailleur will work on nearly any bike, effectively slimming down your excuses on why you shouldn’t go double.
