SRAM built an empire by starting with its iconic Grip Shift. So, webreathed a collective sigh of relief when the component giant announced that it was offering a X01 Grip Shift for its latest generation of 1x11 drivetrains. This means that die hard twist shift fans will have the same fast shifts that they love, while also getting to ditch the front derailleur in the process.
Grip Shift may have been born in the '90s, but with the X01 twist shifter, SRAM has brought that technology roaring into the twenty first century. While the older shifters essentially ran on a bushing, the X01 shifter employs Rolling Thunder technology. In layman's terms, this equates to three rows of ball bearings in order to create drag-free shifts. SRAM's X-Actuation ensures precise shifts, which is especially important on a tightly spaced 11-speed cassette. Speed Metal shift indexing keeps the clicks between shifts solid in order to prevent accidentally over shifting. So, even when you're on the verge of bonking, and can barely remind yourself to twist your wrist. And at around 103 grams for the shifter, it's still a lighter option than most triggers.
The SRAM X01 Grip Shifter is available in the colors Black and Red and as a right shifter.
