The only chain you need for your XX1 group

With the introduction of the SRAM XX1 group, every piece in the drivetrain is designed to work together for an efficient, all-mountain ride quality. However, due to the design of the drivetrain, when it's time to replace your chain, you'll need the SRAM PC XX1 HollowPin Chain.

Representing the latest breakthrough technology from SRAM, the XX1 chain is as precise as the rest of the group. Designed specifically for the XX1 crank, the chains varied, wide and narrow inner profile fits with the alternating thickness and even numbering of the chain ring. Lightweight and durable, the PC XX1 chain delivers strength and reliability to your drivetrain without compromise. Adding to the superior construction of the chain, SRAM continues the use of the PowerLock link -- making tool-less, on-the-fly chain repair a breeze. In addition to easy installation, the 11-speed PowerLock link is as strong, or stronger, than any other link on the chain, and it won't hinder shift quality in the least.

The SRAM PC XX1 HollowPin Chain is only compatible with the XX1 drivetrain. Please note that while the PowerLock installation can be done tool-free, but it's recommended to be used only once due to varied wall thickness required by the 11-speed design. So, if you must break your chain for maintenance reasons, a new 11-speed PowerLock link will be required to reassemble it.

Note: When installing your need chain, you'll need to first, wrap the chain around the chainring, fitting the chain to the proper alternating teeth before feeding the chain over the largest cog on your cassette and through the derailleur. For hardtail bikes, add two links. For full suspension bikes, add four links.

A great chain

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

Works great with the X01 drivetrain that I've got. I've been using these chains for almost 2 years now on all of my bikes, which are running x01, and I haven't had any issues. I love the the SRAM 1x11, x01 set up.

Worked Great For My 11 Speed

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

Happy with it so far. Working great for my 11 speed and has the master/powerlock link. The drive train overall works well with this.

Smooth as shift

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

It has a master link like all SRAM so that is great for install and maintenance. You'll need it to run 11-speed and you'll be happy with how well it moves up and down the XD cassette. Strong easy to clean and quiet.

It's a chain...

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

Hollow pins and solid rivets keep this thing solid and light. Shifting is crisp and quiet. Only draw back to XX1 is I have gone through 4 chains and 3 chainrings in 2 years.

Pins and Plates

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

This is SRAM's highest end chain, with the nicest coatings on all of the pins and plates. Highly recommended for the durability and friction less shifting over the range of the xx1 cassette. A worth choice for any 11 speed drivetrain.

This chain is super strong and burly. Having the quick link on it is awesome too if you ever run into any problems.

Yeah!

In love with XX1, make sure to use the quick link, first chain broke after repinning it.

Never had a problem with this system. Either re driving the pin or using the quick link.

    Does what a chain should

This chain seems to work great. Haven't ever dropped it and haven't had to fiddle with the power link. Only concern is that during a dusty, 50 mile ride, the chain and cassette started to make a creaking noise when climbing in the biggest ring. there weren't any performace issues, just curious if that might be too much cross loading when pulling the chain at such a big angle. time will tell. otherwise, works great and seems durable.

I have had the same issue many times, and after a lot of mechanics speculating about what the issue is, I have discovered that it is due to the front chainring wearing out, which happens very quickly with this 1 x 11 setup. I have been through 4 chainrings since October 2013 when I purchased a bike with the SRAM XX 1 x 11 drivetrain. Noise usually starts in the biggest rings of the cassette when dusty and pedaling uphill, then eventually starts to sound in more of the gears till it sounds like you are riding a walmart bike. Fair amount of information about this issue online, but you've probably already read about this by now. Good Luck!

for me, it was actually just a warranty issue. as you know, the largest ring on the cassette is press fit on to the rest. IT was making all sorts of noise just by pushing on it. got a new cassette and it's been great. i'm sorry you've been wearing out your front ring so quickly. i got pretty good life out of my first, but i switched to a wolf tooth DM.
