Description

SRAM calls this bottom bracket the GXP Team, but it's better known as the BB that comes standard with both the SRAM Force crankset and the SRAM Rival crankset. It's identical to the BB used for the Red component gruppo, except the standard GXP uses steel bearings instead of ceramic.

Radial drivetrain loads get transferred to the GXP Team's driveside bearing, which optimizes bearing load, minimizes drag, and gives you durability. The GXP Team BB is compatible with all SRAM road cranksets -- Red, Force, and Rival. Available in your choice of English or Italian threads.

No, for that you would need to upgrade to the SRAM GXP BlackBox Bottom Bracket.

It is designed to work with Sram and Truvativ's cranks.

My shimano 105 crank uses Octolink BB, their own patented design, so I am not able to use these GXP bearings.

Could I replace the steel bearings for ceramic ones latter down the road? Can I just replace the bearings or would I have to replace the whole cup?

Responded on

So, I call Sram's tech line and they say "no". Fast forward to today and while reading a catalog I see an Enduro Bottom Bracket Bearing Puller-Press for sale. It claims to remove almost every brand. Now I don't know what to think.

Nice price, Reliable, a little drag

This bottom bracket is pretty cool. It is clean and light, easy to install and virtually maintenance free. It holds up to everything mountain bike, urban riding, or thousands of miles on the road. The bearings are really smooth but the seal seem to be very tight and they seem to cause a bit of drag. Otherwise a great overall buy.

All SRAM Road cranksets with external BB use the GXP botton bracket as well as several Truvativ mountain and road cranksets too.
