Turn it up to 11.

All the best things, from Tufnel's amp to SRAM's Force 22 groupset, are designed to max out at 11. The Force 22 Rear Derailleur is a key part of the new Force 22 drivetrain, and it gives you smooth, laser-guided 11-speed shifting under even the most demanding conditions.

SRAM didn't design the Force 22 from scratch. To ensure precise shifting no matter the gear combination, it took the 1:1 Exact Actuation technology from its award-winning 10-speed Red groupset. This means that you'll pull the same length of cable in every shift, regardless of gear, so shifting stays super precise and adjustment free. More speeds means smaller gaps between gears, too, so each shift is lightning fast.

Not content to update the shifting mechanism, SRAM also updated the pulleys and the materials used in the Force 22. The AeroGlide pulley system ensures super-smooth, quiet, and efficient pulley action, and a new elastomer coating reduces noise even further for a more pleasant riding experience. There's a new barrel adjuster, too, which lets you dial in micro-adjustments without the need for tools. As far as materials are concerned, the Force 22 is made from a combination of rugged aluminum, carbon fiber, and magnesium for the ultimate combination of stiffness, lightness, and durability.

Unanswered Question

Will the SRAM FORCE 22 REAR DERAILLEUR with medium cage work with a Sram 11-32t 10 speed cassette?
Thanks

Unanswered Question

Sorry, couldn't figure this out from Sram's site. Are there technically 2 colors for this derailleur (grey or black) with this one being black, or is there only one color option in total produced by Sram for this model?

Solid performance with medium cage

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've got about 800 miles on a medium cage version running 11-32 cassette. Shift performance is very good and both setup and adjusting is easy. Shifts well under heavy load (when required) and hasn't required much attention at all.

Does a fine job managing chain slack across all gear combos in rough terrain (setup on a cyclocroos bike for trail use).

Is the "one-size" item for the short cage version?

Best Answer

Sorry that it is not more clearly labeled, but the one-size does refer to the short cage option. This should take care of cassettes upto a 28 tooth cassette, and you would need to go with a medium cage for anything larger. Feel free to email at Atierney@backcountry.com with any other questions that you might have.

Excellent Performance!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This rear derailuer provides great performance, I am using the WiFli version and the setup is simple. The shifts have been reliable with no mis-shifts. I am using a Shimano 9000 chain and the Sram system does not care one bit. Also the derailuer does a great job of taking up slack variation my Q-rings produce with no problems.

Does this come with a rear hanger or do I need to purchase one?

Best Answer

Rear derailleur hangers are specific to bikes so you would need to purchase one that is specific to your bike. If you need assistance finding a hanger, don't hesitate to email me at mfarr@backcountry.com
