Description

Ride the real master of metal.

If heavy metal bands helped shape your existence, then the Spot Rocker Single Speed is built for a metalhead like you. Immaculate welds and clean lines define this masterfully crafted metal god, because every Rocker is hand-forged in Colorado using True Temper OX Platinum steel, a mixture of chromium, molybdenum and vanadium. The combination of these materials gives the Rocker an unprecedented 217 ksi tensile strength—that means the frame is stiffer than Lemmy after a rowdy gig, and thankfully much better looking. Gates Carbon Belt Drive fills the power bracket with stronger, lighter, quieter, maintenance-free pedaling. The 100mm RockShox Reba Race Q/R fork provides plenty of cush up front without feeling soggy. Stopping power is courtesy of Avid Elixir CR hydraulic brakes halting you from 40 to zero with the flick of a finger, so you know your devil horns will always be in action.

  • Patent-pending Kobe Slider Dropouts allow belt-driven or geared configurations and allow cog/pulley change without adjusting brake caliper
  • TruVativ Stylo crankset for maximum power-to-the-pedals when you clean your local widowmaker
  • Cable stops allow for geared configurations when 'one' gear is no longer enough
  • Prowler 2.1 tires provide ample grip in wet or dry
  • This special build features a 2011 year model frame with a 2012 build kit

The description doesn't specifically say but does this build have the Gates CenterTrack or the older Gates belt drive?

Is this bike as good a spec' w/ the build/frame combo? Can anyone tell me if there are any differences in the frame from the '11/'12 model years? The Sun Ringle wheels seem like they are a down-spec' from even the WTB's that come on the '12 spec' bike on Spot's website. I do like the new center-track belt. thx everybody! ttys...

This is a super deal for the Spot Rocker SS. I bought the Rocker SS at Interbike last year with Sun Ringle Charger Pros and they are great wheels. I've beat the shit out of them and no issues whatsoever. Plus their support is super good, which I can't say for Spot themselves. The build is nice on this bike and at the Hucknroll price, a really good deal in my opinion.

What makes this bike so expensive? I would love to own but that price seems really high.

why would i ride this if my 5'' full suspension bike is 26 lbs? just to look cool?

Best Answer Responded on

The built weight is a couple pounds lighter.
However, that's not the reason to ride a hard tail single speed...it's a totally different ride experience. Unless I'm doing a route/race with an absolute ton of steep climbing, or tons burly rocks and jumps/drops, I'm on my 26" wheeled steel SS hardtail. It's just fun. connects you with the trail, and has an incredible feeling of efficiency if you have the quads. My 5+inch FS bike is fun, but makes me kind of lazy on the downs. They both have their place.

well, you know what they say: "if you have to ask..."

I say give me my SS any day, any time, anywhere, any ride, any weather...and no, not to look cool--although I am ABSOLUTELY sure that I do...;-)--but try it. It just works. Peace, love, and dirt 2/u!
