Speedplay pedals are our best sellers by a huge margin. We're sure that the sales are driven by the design, and those of us that ride Speedplays know exactly why this is the case. Their performance is second only to their simplicity.

But like anything else in this world, if you want it to last, you'll need to do a bit of maintenance. The Speedplay Grease Gun is specifically designed to make re-lubing the spindle bearings an easy task. It's a small bodied grease gun that takes a cartridge (it comes with a 3oz tube of Sta-Lube Marine Grease) that gets housed inside the grease gun handle. It has a needle tip to allow direct grease injection in X, Zero, Light Action, and Frog pedals. For older X/1 and X/2 pedals, you'll need to install current dust caps with the provision for the needle tip. For all Speedplay pedals, you'll just pump in fresh grease, purging the body of gunky, dirty grease until you see fresh stuff come out the other side. Simply wipe off the excess and you'll be ready for the ride.

The Speedplay Grease Gun is black and includes lube and a five inch extension tube with a hydraulic coupler (Zerk) fitting so you'll be able to use it on any zerk fittings for your bike's suspension pivots, ball joints on your truck, etc.

A most have if you own SpeedPlay pedals!

  • Gender: Male

I live in Korea and the humidity here is very high so I wanted to keep my SpeedPlay pedals working like new for many seasons to come. I admit the first time I tried using this grease gun I had no clue how to work it but I went to SpeedPlays website and looked at the video showing the proper usage of this grease gun. The video is simple to follow and instructions are easy to understand. After one ride I re-greased my pedals just the way the video explains it and everything worked great. I hope if you're using SpeedPlay pedals you purchase this grease gun too.

Grease gun use

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I am the only one in my bicycling group to own this device. I find it somewhat difficult to use on certain bikes, including my own. I often can't seem to push the old grease out of the pedal and push the new grease from the gun into the pedal. Some of the grease from the gun seems to spill out of the grease cap and not through the pedal.

Keeps the pedals on form

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Yes, this synthetic lube works great for a number of applications. The included Zerk fitting works with the Chris King BB injector tool as if they were made for each other. Which is nice.

Outstanding

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Works fantastically well for its designed/recomended use - obviously with SP pedals. Also great just to have around for various other uses. I've used this in hubs, headsets, bottom brackets and all manner of other grease requiring places on the bike and other household items where an easy grease application is required.
