SKS Raceblade XL Fender Set $0.00
Make your riding mates happy
Anyone who lives in a area that touts "rain" as a season is probably used to slogging home soaking wet after a long ride. And even though rainfall inevitably leaves us wet, nothing is worse than being soaked to the bone from road spray. SKS's Raceblade XL Fender Set is designed with the same attention to detail and ease of use as its regular Raceblade, but it fits bikes with wider tires.
Americans have an aversion to fenders, it seems, but in Europe, even the pros train with them. After all, they don't just keep you dry, they keep your wheel splash out of your teammates' eyes. And not only do you want happy teammates, you want them to see you when you signal for debris or to stop.
The Raceblades are quick to install for those rides when the clouds roll in just as you arrive at the start. They use a rubber grommet system to attach to your bike. Think of it as working like a quick release system. It takes 10 seconds of tool-free time to put them on and take them off. They stay firmly in place, without having to screw in bolts and nuts, and they won't mar your frame.
The Raceblade fits 700c wheels equipped with tires ranging in size from 25-32mm, meaning they are compatible with the wider, treaded tires on your cyclocross bike. They're available in Black.

Very good 1/2 fenders
Application: Wet weather fender set for 25-32 mm wide tires.
PROS: 1. Made in Germany. Good quality. Good looking. 2. A lot of riders are using 25 mm tires for riding and training these days. And even 28 mm tires for training on wet and rough roads. So these XL fenders work great! They fit 25-28 mm tires perfectly. They do not look too big or too wide. 3. You do not have to remove your front & rear brakes to mount these 1/2 fenders.
CONS: 1. The fit is not as stable as full fenders that mount onto permanent frame eyelets or eyelet washers. 2. Not "full" fenders -this is a pro or con depending on your needs. 3. Getting a truly "fixed" mounting requires some time, fiddling, and the use of the "optional" zip ties and fender screws. At this point they are not really a "quick release" system.
I know of 3 companies that make really good fender sets: SKS, Portland Design Works, and Planet Bike. I won't tell you which to buy; too many variables are involved. But I will say that for training on race bikes with 25-28 mm tires, these SKS Raceblades XL fit perfect and are my current favorite. Good luck!
