Ankle Plates sit TOO far back
Im confused about this product. I bought this solely to protect my ankles from hitting the crank going down the tough stuff. Ive found that i bruise and cut my inner ankle bones after jumping and entering rock gardens. Possibly due to the position of my clipless pedal setup. This seemed to be a brilliant product except for some reason it seems the hard nylon cups that are sewed in to the braces sit too far back. Most ankles bones are close to the front part of your foot not the middle. The cups are uncomfortable and hurt the ankles anyways. I thought about modifying them and reseweing them back together to make them more functional.
As far as the lacing. It is a bit cumbersome but as most braces are, its not too big of a deal.
---Be aware of odd ankle cup placement----
Possible a gel interior and hardened exterior would have been a better solution for a universal fit application
For preventing injury from impact
I bought this hoping it was like an ankle brace i had many years ago to help me recover from an ankle injury. This didn't do what I wanted it to do and took forever to put on and take off because of the many eyelets for the super long lace to go through. This is meant to help from impact on your ankle bones, but for my alternate purpose it did not work for me.
although my review is for an alternate purpose that did not work for me, my star rating is for the actual product fit and usability. I gave it 3 stars because it was time consuming to put on and take off, had an uncomfortable pressure point on the bottom of my foot, and it felt like the heel area could have been bigger, but as far as protecting your ankle bones from something hitting them and hurting you, I think these would do the trick!

How do I select a size? The size chart made no sense.
Basically simplifying it is the only way...If you have a smaller size ankle/leg go small, medium, go medium...etc.
they seems to start in child sizes. i have like a size 9 male foot got the small and medium and they were both too small so i'd probably go large for most adults med for younger teens and so on... but i have a pretty big heel. the side plates will just hurt the shit out of the bone that sticks out at your ankle when the brace is tight unless it fits in the hole they put in the side plate to avoid that. so the size of your heel will also affect where that hole sits.
