Item # SID006D

As good as it gets.

Before now, you viewed your Ergo 3s as the pinnacle of Italian craftsmanship. We can't blame you — we did, too. And while it seemed unlikely that anyone would ever top the technical features and comfort of the Ergos, Sidi chose to outdo itself. The Wire Speedplay Shoes look down from the mountain as the new rulers of cycling shoes, and at 60 grams less than the Ergo 3s, we understand why.

Sidi's previous flagship shoe, the Ergo 3, was an incredible piece of cycling gear that re-wrote the book on comfort and stiffness, but Sidi hasn't attained its dominance by resting on laurels and leaving innovation for its competitors. While the Ergo 3 utilized three different closure systems, the Wire is based around a single system — the new Techno 3 buckle, yet another great innovation from Sidi. Most notably, adjustments of each of the shoe's instep and forefoot buckles is significantly more intuitive and easier to do while in the saddle. Loosening each buckle is a simple affair — you can pinch both buttons on either side of the buckle to unwind the line closure, or you can toggle each button for extremely precise incremental adjustment. Tightening the shoe should also be familiar: just open the buckle's switch and wind the buckle. Sidi uses a supple, low-friction, line material to keep the buckle action smooth. Not only does the Techno 3 make the shoe's overall aesthetic even cleaner, but it also allows for an even greater degree of micro adjustability and fit consistency across the entire shoe. This ensures that you get the perfect fit every single time you buckle up for a ride. And for those who prefer as snug a fit as possible, the shoe's tongue and instep strap have both been padded generously to allow for supreme comfort with tight buckles.

Returning from the Ergo 3 is the superlative carbon fiber sole. It shares the same construction method that Sidi developed with its Carbon Lite sole, yet they've taken out 38 grams in the process. Even with the weight savings, you'll get the same kind of stiffness and razor sharp power transfer you've grown to expect from Sidi.

Also returning from previous top-shelf offerings is Sidi's vastly improved Heel Security System (or HSS) to keep your foot positively planted in the shoe. By means of a small allen key, it's an adjustable, rigid composite band that closes the shoe more securely over your heel to anchor it in place around your Achilles. So, no matter how much power you're pouring into the pedals, your heel will stay in place inside the shoe. It's a detail that allows you to cinch down the straps of your shoes less tightly — giving you more comfort along with more security.

With a degree of engineered flex in the Carbon Sole and a secure and slip-free heel, you won't have to worry about hot spots. And you don't have to worry about heat in the rest of your feet, either, with the Wire's combination of Lorica microfiber and ballistic mesh — giving you comfort, fit and durability.

The Sidi Wire Speedplay Shoes are available in the color Vernice White and in odd and even sizes from 39.0 to 48.0. Please note that these shoes are designed for use with the Speedplay cleat system and come supplied with the Speedplay cleat protectors. We also offer the Wire shoes in 3-hole cleat compatibility.

Amazing shoe for my foot & fit

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

This shoe performs really well. 12000 miles in these this year. Prior shoe was Sidi Ergo 3 which was also great and I keep it as back up and rain shoe. For reference I have a fairly low volume foot. Almost a narrow foot but not quite. Size 13 48 fits like my running shoes in length. The last is supportive and great for medium over pronators. I wear a Mizuno Inspire or Nike Zoom Structure for running.

I have ridden only in Sidis; so, I can't compare them to other brands. I purchased the new pair a month ago and have several hundred miles on them. They were a great fit from the first time on--no break-in time needed. The techno-3 mechanism is quick, consistent, and reliable. The Speedplay cleat pattern made cleat attachment quick and easy. I don't see a reason to consider a different brand of shoe, other than a custom shoe, and the Sidi price, while considerable, is much less than a pair of custom shoes.
