The age of the Wire.

Eagle eyes at the 2012 the Tour may have noticed a new, and yet-unreleased Sidi shoe beneath Green Jersey winner Peter Sagan as he stormed to each of his impressive three stage wins. Now available to assist with your own pursuit of the maillot vert, are the Sidi Wire Shoes -- the next footwear evolution from Sidi that improves on the fit of its predecessor while tipping the scales a full 60 grams lighter.

Sidi's previous flagship shoe, the Ergo 3, was an incredible piece of cycling gear that re-wrote the book on comfort and stiffness, but Sidi hasn't attained its dominance by resting on laurels and leaving innovation for its competitors. While the Ergo 3 utilized three different closure systems, the Wire is based around a single system -- the new Tecno 3 buckle, yet another great innovation from Sidi. Most notably, adjustments of each of the shoe's instep and forefoot buckles is significantly more intuitive and easier to do while in-the-saddle. Loosening each buckle is a simple affair -- you can pinch both buttons on either side of the buckle to unwind the line closure, or you can alternatively toggle each button for extremely precise incremental adjustment. Tightening the shoe should also be familiar: just open the buckle's switch and wind the buckle. Sidi uses a supple, but low-friction, line material to keep the buckle action smooth. Not only does the Tecno 3 make the shoe's overall aesthetic even cleaner, but it also allows for an even greater degree of micro adjustability and fit consistency across the entire shoe. This ensures that you get the perfect fit every single time you buckle up for a ride. And for those who prefer as snug a fit as possible, the shoe's tongue and instep strap have both been padded generously to allow for supreme comfort with tight buckles.

Returning from the Ergo 3 is the superlative vented carbon fiber sole. It shares the same construction method that Sidi developed with its Carbon Lite sole, yet they've taken out 38 grams in the process. Even with the weight savings, you'll get the same kind of stiffness and razor sharp power transfer you've grown to expect from Sidi. Like Garneau's Ergo Air system, the vent inlet is at the toe. However, Sidi's system can be opened or closed depending on the temperature and your preferences. This, you can do on the bike if necessary. The airflow moves underneath and through the insole to cool your feet in sweltering summer temperatures.

Also returning from previous top-shelf offerings is Sidi's vastly improved Heel Security System (or HSS) to keep your foot positively planted in the shoe. By means of a small allen key, it's an adjustable, rigid composite band that closes the shoe more securely over your heel to anchor it in place around your Achilles. So, no matter how much power you're pouring into the pedals, your heel will stay in place inside the shoe. It's a detail that allows you to cinch down the straps of your shoes less tightly -- giving you more comfort along with more security.

With a degree of engineered flex in the Vent Carbon Sole and a secure and slip-free heel, you won't have to worry about hot spots. And you don't have to worry about heat in the rest of your feet, either, with the Wire's combination of Lorica microfiber and ballistic mesh -- giving you comfort, fit, ventilation, and durability.

The Sidi Wire Shoes are available in the colors Vernice Black/yellow and Vernice White. They come in both whole and half sizes from 39-48. And true to Sidi form, all of the buckles, straps, and heel retention devices are fully replaceable, making the Wire truly a shoe for the ages.

Fantastic Shoes

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Super high quality. Great fit and feel. Really comfortable. I was stepping up from a pair of Specialized Expert. These are in another league.

Another amazing pair of Sidi's

Fit perfectly, and transfer power directly to the pedals.

must have

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I got those on 6 months ago. Those are very made well , high quality , easy to wash. Lightweight . Basically on hot summer my feet always stay dry.
I was amazed on how great and powerful these are. POWER transfer is just insane. Srint or climb is just beautiful .Highly recomm. for those. Worth every single penny. Fit is just perfect , you feet " click " with those. Magical shoes.

Size. I used to own Genius II , and size 46.5 was perfect. I got Wire in 46,5 as well , and I had to exchanged for 47. My feet is wide so I think that was a reason. I got white color . Very minimalistic look and beautiful.

Great quality shoe!

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

More form fitting than the Genius 6.6. Love the Techno 3 system. Much more effetive at achieving the desired tightness. Sizing in terms of length runs similar to the Genius 6.6 Vent, other than the width. Really good looking shoe and way lighter than any other Sidi I have owned.

Perfect Shoe for me

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The Sidi Wire is the perfect shoe for me. I started this year with the Sidi Genius Fit 5. Nice shoe but the fit began to be a problem as we entered the warmer months of summer. With thinner socks and possibly a bit of stretching in the uppers, I could not get a snug fit that was also comfortable. Hot spots on the instep developed. It was time for another shoe. I went with a 42 for the Wire. I was a 42.5 in the Genius Fit 5. I'm 5'7" and 140lbs.

The Wire fits snug and comfortable. There is a great range of precise control of how snug the shoe is with the wire buckles. Adjusting them mid-ride is quick and easy. The soles are stiff as expected, they are carbon. The adjustment on the heels is very nice as well. I have narrow heels and tightening them just a bit keep my heels in place all the time. I can't say much for the supplied insoles because I always pull them out of any shoe I own and throw in a pair of Superfeet. The Superfeet Carbon insoles are thin enough to not affect the fit of the shoes but they provide the necessary support to keep my feet happy all day long. The vented soles really do work. Cool and dry feet are great. After a long hard day in the saddle my feet don't suffer any hot spots or soreness.

Not worth the money

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I could not be more disappointed with this over priced, over marketed cycling shoe. Although it is well made, it is not comfortable. The shoe in no way conforms to my foot. In addition, the location of the strap is too high on the shoe such that when I snug it down it creates a painful hot spot on my inner ankle bone. In addition, I have to re-tighten or readjust the wire 'ratchet' system at least 3 or 4 times on every ride. It's annoying. I've retired these shoes after only 3 months. A much better shoe option would be the top of the line Shimano R-series or Specialized S-works. Those shoes fit like a glove. I am a former national and WC who just wants to say, in my opinion, these shoes are definitely not worth the money!

The best

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I have ridden SIDI shoes over the last 15 years. I decided long ago to not use any thing else. Wires top anything SIDI has put out making them the best shoe period in my opinion. They have great arch support, extremely comfortable on 3hour plus rides and the venting is makes a huge difference in keeping my socks drier and feet cooler. Maybe this is not as big a deal on shorter rides but on long ones, it really matters.

Been looking at these shoes for a...

Been looking at these shoes for a while. I currently have a specialized triathlon shoe size 43 (US 9). Anyone in the same size and what size wire did you purchase. I'm hesitant to buy them because I'm not positive on my size and no shop close to me sells them. Any help would really be appreciated.

These shoes run very true to size. They are a bit narrow, though. Good luck!

They run very small. I've worn a Sidi in a 46 for over a decade in 5 or 6 different models and this is almost a full size smaller as best as I can tell. Purchased them and returned them.

My Wires are a half-size up from my old Specialized shoes (46 Sidi = 45.5 Specialized). The Wires are much more comfortable, I can't see myself buying anything other than Sidi from now on.

Different fit than Ergo 3

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I have been riding Sidi road and MTB shoes for decades. They are top-notch in technology, design and construction. My last pair of Ergo 3's are still in use but I was intrigued with the Sidi Wire model so I ordered a pair and was disappointed because I found that the fit had definitely changed, not necessarily for the worse, as you can read from the other comments, but in a way that, for my foot, was a problem. I have a flat low-arch foot. It seemed that the cut of the edge of the upper, where it passes under the outside ankle bone and from there forward was significantly higher and closer to the bone. This did not work for me so I returned them to CC. FWIW, I continue to be impressed at CC's level of service, which is excellent.

Best Road Shoe On The Market

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The Sidi Wire is hands down the most comfortable road shoe I have ever ridden. You are able to adjust it perfectly with the techno 3 buckles. You can also adjust the heel cup so your foot doesn't move at all. The size chart is spot on. I wear a 10.5 and the 45 fits me perfectly with my toes just touching in the end. These shoes will break in a bit so if you are in between sizes, I would size down and let the shoe break in.

The sole of the shoe is very stiff and provides great power transfer. These shoes are so light that they feel like my feet are going to float away. When you are pedaling it feels like there is nothing on your feet. For this price, these shoes do just about everything you could ask of them... except make you coffee in the morning. If you have any questions about these shoes please give me a call.

Nate, please buy my Sidi Wire shoes. They are size 45. I hate them.

Responded on

bmcp -- You have to realize that everyone's feet fit differently and some brands fit some people better while other brands fit other people better. It is not a criticism of Sidi if their shoes do not fit you. Sidi fits a great many people perfectly, and that is why they are so popular.

Excellent :)

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Have ridden Sidi's for 15 years now - and tried each model - last ones were the Ergo 3's. First, they are super light, vs my Ergo 3's, they are 98gms lighter for the pair - that is substantial. Second, they are noticeably more vented - there is a new vent in the tongue which improves air circulation, and it's evident. Additionally, there just seems to be more room in the toe box - can't explain it, but with the shoe nice and tight - still some nice room for the toes :) Best Sidi shoe yet - and Competitive always has an awesome price :)

Excellent road shoes!

I was looking to replace an old pair of Shimanos and spent a lot of time researching a number of different shoes before I came across Sidi. A lot of the other brands I tried did not have "the fit" I was looking for, but this shoe did. I know sizing among brands can be very confusing since a size in one brand may actually be smaller or larger in another for the exact same size!

For reference, I normally wear a 9.5-10 in athletic shoes (43.5-44 in Euro). I have a moderate to low arch. The width of my foot is around the E size; the Sidi website says their regular width shoe will fit a C-E foot width range. I purchased the Wire in a Euro 44 size (US 10, 27cm), regular width. These shoes fit like a glove. A snug fit, almost like slippers, but not tight in any areas in the top, front or sides of my feet. I have enough room to wiggle my toes in the toe box and about 3-4 mm of space from my big toe to the end of the shoe, with no back and forth movement of my foot once in the shoe. The heel cup does a nice job of keeping my heel in place. There is minimal slip even with thin cycling socks and not having the Heel Security System screws tightened up. The comfort step insoles are a big improvement from the insoles on other Sidi models like the Genius 6.6 and Ergo 3 (which I tried on in stores), it provides more padding and better arch support while not being too bulky inside the shoe, very comfortable. The Tecno 3 closure system is great and easy to use. It provides even pressure across all areas of my foot and can be easily adjusted when things get too tight on a ride. I believe it is superior to the buckle and Velcro offerings on other Sidi shoes.
The construction of these shoes is top notch and the pictures online cannot do justice to how nice these shoes look in person. While on the expensive side, I'd say don't even think about the price because these shoes are worth every penny. With most parts being replaceable on these Sidi's, they should last 5+ years.
