SP por vida.

If you're a Speedplay loyalist, chances are that you're sick of getting the short end of the stick when it comes to compatibility. We're not sure why there's been this longstanding reluctance, but we are sure that the tides are changing. For example, with the T3.6 Speedplay Shoes, Sidi created an entirely independent design to that of the T3 Air. No more mounting plates, and no more adapters. Instead, you finally reap the full benefits of your preferred cleat system, effectively leaving the three-hole riders in your dust.

From a purely functional standpoint, we can agree that rigidity is key. That's why Sidi uses a multi-step system to ensure that your power output receives a minimal amount of dissipation through the interaction of the shoe and the pedal. To achieve this, Sidi incorporated its new, Speedplay-approved, SP Carbon Sole. Now, don't think that this is a knock off of the Eleven carbon composite sole. The SP Carbon has been designed to allow a direct-mount of Speedplay cleats. That's right, there's no need for a base plate anymore. Accordingly, the traditional stack height has been reduced by around 4mm, and the weight has been slashed by nearly 62 grams. Even better, you gain an additional 6mm of fore/aft adjustment with the new design. However, you're probably wondering to what this translates in real-world conditions. Well, it means that you can run a lower saddle height, resulting in a reduced frontal area. As a result, your center of gravity is lowered, which translates to increased handling capabilities and a stellar aerodynamic advantage. In fact, Speedplay's testing has concluded that this system will result in upwards of 33 seconds in time savings over the course of a one hour ride.

For fit, Sidi understands that triathlon plays by another set of rules. Its hallmark ratcheting system and Ergo Buckles aren't relevant to your discipline, so, Sidi incorporated a two-strap closure system, mated with a 'burrito-wrap' upper. What does this mean? Well, the T3.6 features an opening that runs over nearly the entire top of the shoe. The burrito analogy is drawn from the T3.6's upper construction where one layer of the upper wraps over the other. This allows you to really dial in the volume of the shoe, whether it be for training or on-the-fly during a race. For your T1 transitions, the two-strap closure system is a breeze. The large top strap opens away from the drivetrain to allow a quick and seamless securing of the shoe. As for the bottom strap, you'll find that this is used less for transitions, and more left alone once you've established your desired volume and fit. However, the gripper tabs placement on the strap simplifies any adjustments that you might need to make from the saddle. To really speed up T1, Sidi has also included a durable pull-tab at the heel.

Further along the lines of fit, Sidi has placed its signature heel cup at the aft position of the shoe for reinforcement. Basically, it keeps the foot in the perfect position on hard up-strokes and while climbing out of the saddle. For comfort, the body of the shoe has been made from a new synthetic leather that Sidi calls Lucido. This material provides a firm grip on the foot, thoroughly fulfilling its duty as a strong interface between your foot and the sole. Even better, the material is extremely durable, as it doesn't succumb to the variable forces and bending that would normally wrinkle the shape of the uppers. Instead, the intended shape of the shoe remains unscathed over the years. You'll also find that Sidi incorporated a brushed inner-lining with a minimal amount of internal seams. So, your comfort is guaranteed during wet, sock-less riding.

The Sidi T3.6 Speedplay Shoes are available in the color White/blue and in whole and half sizes ranging from 40 to 48. Please note that the T3.6 is only compatible with Speedplay cleat systems. For traditional three-hole road compatibility, please see the Sidi T3 Air Shoes.
