In a triathlon, every second counts. However, while most seconds are earned in the pain cave, some seconds are lost to human error, and some are simply purchased. Lucky for you, the Sidi T3.6 Shoes cover you on all fronts. With a new design, transitions are simplified with the T3.6's ease-to-use entry and exit system, and your efforts are maximized from its carbon sole and conforming design.
From a purely functional standpoint, we can agree that rigidity is key. That's why Sidi uses a multi-step system to ensure that your power output receives a minimal amount of dissipation through the interaction of the shoe and the pedal. To achieve this, Sidi incorporated its new Eleven Carbon Composite sole. Now, don't think that this is anything like the Millennium 3 composite sole. The Eleven uses a 3K carbon fiber weave that's been inset into a carbon infused nylon matrix. This process provides variable stiffness throughout the sole in order to dramatically improve the overall stiffness-to-comfort ratio of the shoe. This especially makes the sensation of your T2 change into running shoes more seamless, because your arch movements have been accommodated over the cycling leg. And not only does the composite matrix result in comfort, but it also enhances the level of durability. In fact, Sidi estimates that the new material is less susceptible to temperature extremes and wear, and accordingly, the soles are predicted to retain their rigidity levels over multiple seasons of use.
For fit, Sidi understands that triathlon plays by another set of rules. Its hallmark ratcheting system and Ergo Buckles aren't relevant to your discipline, so, Sidi incorporated a two-strap closure system, mated with a 'burrito-wrap' upper. What does this mean? Well, the T3.6 features an opening that runs over nearly the entire top of the shoe. The burrito analogy is drawn from the T3.6's upper construction where one layer of the upper wraps over the other. This allows you to really dial in the volume of the shoe, whether it be for training or on-the-fly during a race. For your T1 transitions, the two-strap closure system is a breeze. The large top strap opens away from the drivetrain to allow a quick and seamless securing of the shoe. As for the bottom strap, you'll find that this is used less for transitions, and more left alone once you've established your desired volume and fit. However, the gripper tabs placement on the strap simplifies any adjustments that you might need to make from the saddle. To really speed up T1, Sidi has also included a durable pull-tab at the heel.
Further along the lines of fit, Sidi has placed its signature heel cup at the aft position of the shoe for reinforcement. Basically, it keeps the foot in the perfect position on hard up-strokes and while climbing out of the saddle. For comfort, the body of the shoe has been made from a new synthetic leather that Sidi calls Lucido. This material provides a firm grip on the foot, thoroughly fulfilling its duty as a strong interface between your foot and the sole. Even better, the material is extremely durable, as it doesn't succumb to the variable forces and bending that would normally wrinkle the shape of the uppers. Instead, the intended shape of the shoe remains unscathed over the years. More importantly, Lucido retains its strength even though the entire composition of the upper is perforated -- after all, it's not called the 'Air' for no reason. The obsessive amount of ventilation holes make the T3.6 Air the obvious choice for warm-weather racing and training.
The Sidi T3.6 Air Shoes are available in the color Vernice Black/white and in even and odd sizes from 39.0 to 48.0.
