Item # SID007U

Wide-ranging compilation.

Sidi is billing the men's Ergo 4 Carbon Mega Shoes as a new model, but the shoes' component parts constitute many of the same technologies that we've seen across Sidi's line — particularly in the beloved Ergo 3 — just repurposed in a new configuration. Everything from the Tecno 3 wire dials to the Twelve Carbon Composite sole has appeared at some point in the brand's line, but the Ergo 4 Mega brings them together in a wider platform that strikes Sidi's classic balance of stiffness, weight, and style.

As with its slimmer counterpart, the Ergo 4 Mega features Sidi's Tecno 3 buckle system, which uses two different ratcheting dials for a customizable fit across the instep. The Tecno 3 system is low-profile and tidier than Sidi's signature ratcheting buckle, and it also allows for an even greater degree of micro adjustability and fit consistency across the entire shoe. Like with the rest of Sidi's fastening hardware, you can fiddle with the Tecno 3 buckles in the saddle; however, the standard Tecno-3 lacks the Tecno-3 Push's little red release button.

The Twelve Carbon Composite Sole is built like the road racing version of a mountaineering boot. It's got a carbon fiber shank running down the center to keep the shoe's power-transferring heart stiff and responsive. This is encompassed by carbon-reinforced nylon, which provides a bit of engineered flex for comfort and reduces the price compared to Sidi's all-carbon soles.

The Ergo 4 also incorporates Sidi's Adjustable Heel Retention Device, which tightens the top of the heel cup to keep your foot positively planted in the shoe. The shoe's tongue and instep strap are both padded generously to allow for supreme comfort with tight buckles. Finally, all of the enclosure hardware and the heel pads are replaceable, so the shoes will outlive multiple seasons and even the occasional crash.

  • Sidi road shoe craftsmanship on a wider platform
  • Carbon composite sole blends rigidity and flex
  • Forgiving nylon for comfort, carbon shank transfers power
  • Durable Lorica upper resists weather and wear
  • Adjustable heel cup provides slip-free fit
  • Secure, customizable fit from dual ratcheting buckles

Great for Regular-Wide Feet

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small

I now have a couple of hundred miles on these shoes. The increased width of the Ergo is perfect for regular to wide feet. I tried the Wire Carbon but they were WAY too narrow!! Really well built shoe. I switched from a Specialized FACT Carbon. ORDER A FULL SIZE UP IN THESE SHOES! I wore a 46 in the Specialized. Ended up with a 47 in the Sidi Ergo. Only real issue is the serrated edge of the tongue. Sort of digs into the face of your ankle for the first couple of rides. Once it is broke in I didn't even notice it. Well worth the money in my opinion! Very satisfied.

Just to add to albert's review, I also found that the tongue digs into your ankle. I had to cut the tounge in two spots to alleviate this issue.
