Sidi Dominator Fit Women's Shoes $249.99
Dominate the trail like never before.
New to this year, the Technomicro microfiber upper of Sidi's Women's Dominator Fit shoes provides superb ventilation and the durability that's necessary for mountain biking. Even better, compared to last year's iteration, this Dominator Fit has been designed with a narrower heel cup and last. This way, your feet aren't swimming in shoes that are intended for the male species.
After all, a close, more conforming fit is essential for not only climbing efficiency but bunny hopping over trail obstacles like roots and rocks, as well. Ensuring that this is the case, Sidi uses three straps on the Dominator Fit — two hook-and-loop lowers along with a two-way ratchet upper. This caliper buckle lets you fine tune pressure while riding so that your feet are nice and comfortable.
Adding to this, the tongue has been padded, and the upper strap is features Sidi's Soft Instep Closure System. Essentially, this is a wide, countered strap that's adjustable in both the left and right directions for a perfect, pressure-free fit. It's also worth noting that all of Sidi's small parts, like the Soft Instep Closure System and caliper buckle, are replaceable.
Also new to this year, and it's something to be excited about, the Dominator Fit now features a slightly softer compound than the Dominators of yesteryear. Why is this important? Well, Sidi told us that it received a few complaints about the hard compound not interacting well with both sandy and hard environments. Essentially, it slipped a bit. Now, the softer compound will provide a confident interface with all trail environments.
The Sidi Dominator Fit Women's Shoes are available in the color Black Vernice and in odd and even sizes from 36.0 to 43.0. Please note that Sidi recommends using a reinforcement plate for use with dual retention-bar style pedals (Crank Brothers, TIME, and Look), but the plate is not required for Shimano-style pedals.

- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
After 6 years and thousands of miles of riding, quite a bit of it in undesirable cold, damp conditions, my last pair of Dominators finally got retired. The nice stiff sole, that provided excellent power transfer had become floppy and the heel cup that lovingly held my heel secure with no slippage nor chafing became squirmy. The strategically placed heel reflectors had finally flaked off from years of hasty toeing off abuse, the Technomicro across the toe box had scuffed down to a velvety texture, and the sole had worn a bit from a few too many gravel strewn traverses & cafe stops. But the best thing about them is the fact that you forget that you're wearing them. The fit is so comfortable and seamless and microadjustable with the caliper and instep velco straps that you can just concentrate on enjoying your ride which is why I'm happily wearing my new replacement Dominators which have the same seamless quality. In the summer they are adequately ventilated (at least for our 65-95F spread) and a pair of shoe covers and wool socks lets me take them down to 32F. I am always a size 7.5M in US or 37.5 in Euro dress shoes but with Sidi's I fit 40 perfectly which makes sense as US 7.5 falls between Sidi sizes 39 and 40.5 on Sidi's size chart.
