Why We Like The Shimano XT SM-RT86 Rotor

Shimano’s XT Brake Rotor, the SM-RT86, sets itself apart from Shimano’s lower-tier offerings through its use of an aluminum core to transfer heat away from the brake caliper. This, combined with the finned heat sinks in Shimano’s XT and XTR-level brake pads, combats heat-related brake fade. We appreciate this construction because it translates to consistent, reliable braking even on long descents.

Couldn't be happier with these -- Shimano makes a great product. Running these now on both my bikes (a hardtail XC and a full suspension). Great linear feel, quiet, and all the stopping power needed. I've been riding on these year-round for about 18 months now and they have worked flawlessly rain or shine. Most all of my riding is on beginner & intermediate single track with steep but short hills, although I did spend a full day last summer doing nothing but harrowing downhill runs at a bike park (fun btw!). That gave the brakes a good workout....no issues.

I have a 203 up front and 180 in back paired with a set of M9120 brakes and I have no complaints.
