Really, chances are good that if you haven't bought a new frame in the last couple of years, this baby's all you need to make that front shifting action happen. The derailleur isn't that far removed from the front derailleur on your first mountain bike (we'll assume that you've been at it as long as we have). The M781 is a down-swing, dual-pull front derailleur that mounts with a regular seat tube clamp. This derailleur uses Shimano's Dual Pull lever arm so cable routing can come via the top or down tubes. And like its top swing brethren, it has a cage radius and plate shapes that are optimized for use with Shimano's double-ring cranksets, although it will work with almost any double-ring mountain bike crankset on the market.
