Description

Make your shifts crisp and clean with Shimano's XT Front Derailleur.

Thanks to its wide pivot link design, the Shimano XT Front Derailleur offers improved strength and responsive shifting. Angled adjustment screws make screwdriver access easy. The XT's modified cage tail shape provides plenty of tire clearance, and the dual pull design works with top or bottom cable routing.

Precision

Rock this on all of my bikes. It's a must have. Really easy to set up with just about any build and let me tell ya, i have yet to have a shifting issue with my front deraileur. Compared the the x9 or x0 i'd say it's comparable if not better. Really durable.

Hey there, can this derailer be used on downhill/freeride bikes as well or is it best suited for trail/cross country ridindg. I have a 1x9 shimano xt in the rear but need a smaller ring for climbing a bit...suggestions. Thx

Responded on

Depends on the bike, lots of DH/FR rigs will not accommodate a front derailleur. If your bike is designed for one, you'll need to know if it's bolt on or the diameter of the tube where the front der. is mounted so you can get the appropriate version of this derailleur.

If your bike is not compatible w/ a front derailleur you may try TruVativ Hammerschmidt. It will set you back a bit more coin but it will also get you the gearing you desire.

Will this clear 2.5 tires? On a triple?

That depends and more than just the Der But Shimano has profiled the inside corner of the cage to help the use of Wide Tires.

can i use the FD-770 even if i have an 8 speed set-up?

Responded on

The cage on a 9spd Frt Der is narrower than a 8spd which will make it impossible to adjust so the chain never rubs.

Quick and Precise

This is a great shifter that shifts quick and is very easy to adjust! I have this derailleur paired with my xt shifter pods and it's soo quick and easy. Would recommend this derailleur and also think about getting the xt shifters.

All front deraillers not the same !

As with all Shimano,it is good! For every day use and some off-road,but for hard off-road,I go with the "work horse" LX..

Great Fron Derailleur

I got this to replace my old LX front der. It is so nice and I'm glad I did. Shifting is fast and clean making transfer to all gears hardly noticeable.

What is the angle of the chain carrier in relationship to the angle of the seat post it attaches to... ie is this set up for 67 to 69 * seat posts or 63 to 66* seat posts, or?

Responded on

This derailleur has angled set screws, so you can adjust it according to your particular frame design. Handy? I think so.

Will this particular model work on a 2008 Diamondback Insight WSD?

Responded on

Yes, this should work on an Insight, but it's honestly kind of overkill given the other componentry that comes on the Insights.I'd love to be able to help you out and see if this kind of derailleur is really what you're needing and what purpose it'd serve (other than just shifting). If something broke on your bike and it's an '08, it probably qualifies for warranty. Either work with the place you bought it from, or e-mail me (my shop works with Raleigh USA/Diamondback).mattf [at] bikemonkeyranch.com
