Some wisenheimer will eventually ask us, "What’s the difference between the XT and XTR bottom bracket?" The answer is very little. We don’t have the means to measure the polish or super-polished races, the good or great ball bearings, or the PSI required to push water past the seals. The XTR cups are black, XT’s are silver.

The Shimano XT Hollowtech II bottom bracket works with shells that are 68mm and 73mm and can replace any Shimano 50mm chainline bb. That includes all of Shimano’s MTB line, save cranks designed to work with the 150mm Saint rear hub.

Here's what others have to say...

Set it and forget it..

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

Shimano XT is the standard in affordable and durable gear. This bottom bracket fits the bill on both accounts. Stock SLX was creaking and was at the end of its life, Backcountry got the new bottom bracket to me lickety split and now I'm on my way to pedaling nirvana. If this ever wears out, which I doubt, I'll be back for another one.

What? That sound isn't normal?

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

After putting over 3,000 miles on my XT BB, it finally started creaking and making noise. I'm that guy who has to have everything dialed, hates vibrations, and especially noises from the bike!

I bought this and got it installed in under 10 minutes. I was impressed to see it was pre-greased on the threads. All I had to do was clean out everything and screw this in!

Now I realize I should have replaced this months ago!

Keep a spare, replace that BB early, no need to be the guy with the loud bike in the group!

The standard of BBs

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

This thing is pretty much the reference for bottom brackets. Cheap, durable and light. I don't understand why someone would shell out for a name brand made in usa thing when this is 5x cheaper.

Great BB Great price

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

Very very good bottom bracket for the price, all of my lower end builds for customers, this is the BB that I use, does a great job of what exactly it is supposed to!

Does this come with BB spacers?

Lasts forever

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

Super durable, bearings spin smooth, threaded interface is the simplest to deal with maintenance wise. Matched up to my XT crank, works like a charm.

Lasts and lasts

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

And doesn't cost you an arm and a leg to replace when it finally goes. Wish there were a PF30 model available, but Shimano's not generally known for jumping on the latest trends.

Great Bottom Bracket

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

It does the job! good price and does the job well.
