Asymmetrical and smooth.

Intended for the specific conditions a mountain bike encounters, Shimano's updated the SLX 10-Speed Chain, now designated CN-HG75, and it features a new surface treatment. Like its predecessor, this is a directional chain with task-specific links for optimized Dyna-Sys shifting performance.

Inner and outer plates are shaped to work with corresponding front and rear cogs for smooth shifts under load. Adding to that is the new Sil-Tec treatment that allows freer movement around pulleys, cogs, and chain rings. The Shimano SLX 10-Speed CN-HG75 Chain comes with 116 links and is compatible with Shimano 10-speed drivetrains.

Here's what others have to say...

will this work on a 10 speed dura ace road?

Responded on

We recommend using a 7900 (Dura Ace 10 speed) or 6700 (Ultegra 10 speed) chain with your 10 s peed dura ace road group. This chain is designed to work with 10 speed mountain drive trains and will not be the most optimal fit with Shimano's 10 speed road group.

Nice Chain

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a nice chain that I put on my bike initially during the build process. Due to a few problems I have since switched out for an XTR. None of the problems were the chain itself, it was user error (broken chainring caused a broken chain, then it was too short to use on my setup). This is a great budget chain and while the XTR might shift a tad smoother, it's hardly noticeable. If you looking for a spare or building a bike on a tighter budget I wouldn't hesitate to buy this chain again.
